Fresh fruit.
Young Despondence
Chucky figured out Gwendolyn's dirty little secret. She almost let it slip out a while back on this page. He didn't forget. Unfortunately his sudden revulsion is an emotional punch in the gut to Gwendolyn. But screw her for making him feel bad, she needs to socialize herself a bit more.

After all this time, I've finally made reference to humans.

Such conflicting emotions! This is a great page. I can't help but feel a bit bad for Gwendolyn from his reaction. Though as you've said, they've each said and done things that have been rough pains for one another. I do hope however this is only a small bump for their relationship.
Chucky

It's just a bump, not that there won't be more. Chucky's excuse is easy, he's a 13 year old male. He'll be rough around the edges not matter how nicely he was raised. Gwendolyn spends long periods of time alone and she's dealing with a new body and refreshed emotions.

Chucky should just live with Gwendolyn forever.

You should make it So. Make them live together.

That pose when she said her uncle took her purity.. extra sexy.

Survivors doing what they need. i would never judge her for it.
Also... humans go ded.  Are there any left or is it total extinction?
Chucky

I love your new icon!

Thanks, I enjoyed drawing these poses. Humans have been extinct for nearly 50,000 years. We hit a population of over 11 billion, so there are a lot of fossilized remains around. Human skulls are not an uncommon trinket in affluent anthro households.

Unless Charlton Heston shows up, coming out of hibernation and emerging from a crash-landed spaceship. ;-)

I can sympathize with Gwen... hoomons have such strange... short snouted and round skulls... they seem most unnatural!
Certainly not the long, elegant, and tapered construct of rodent skulls!

And I would never judge Gwendolyn. Compared to other furs, rats and mice are... well for lack of a better word, more honest and open about their relationships and generally don't see the fuss about "closer than usual" family ties.

You can also tell Charles and Gwen are THAT into each other when they have little "husband - wife" spats like this. xD And they aren't even formally tied YET.
Chucky
3 years, 5 months ago
Ha ha right? If they didn't like each other neither would care much about what the other thought.

That's a good point about the skulls. In fact, most anthros would have similar looking elegant tapered skulls with only the teeth marking the obvious differences. But us hyoomans have these weird flat faced round alien skulls with the deep eye sockets.

To me it was a very pleasurable experience & good memory. But once he became fanatically religious in later years he vehemently refused to admit he ever performed such a sin because god had forgiven him. Just like religion to destroy something beautiful.
Chucky

Sounds like the type who believed they could become a born again virgin instead of just accepting the enjoyment of younger days. He let his brain get broken.
Feryl
3 years, 5 months ago
Sadly true. He was in the beginning of his rise to riches. Now he's an abusive hyper-christian millionaire business owner with 9 kids from 3 marriages & free of all of his moral obligations of acting like a human.

But once, long ago he was an incredible guy & my uncle.

There's a lot to like in this page. The poses are all really well done: look natural and communicate their emotions of the moment. Incest squicks me out but can't say it doesn't serve the story. Love those little fossils showing up from the Anthropocene Era! Would be cool to see an old car sticking out of an eroding cliff face or something. Even 50,000yr is not that long for a geologist though, and the important recent change in Earths history is not the end of Man but rather the beginning of magic. How the hell did that happen!? It's not important to the story to answer that question but it's something uncle Ponsor will be interested in...
Chucky
3 years, 5 months ago
Thanks. Yeah, there would be a lot of our stuff still around. Many things would corrode beyond recognition rather quickly, but others would simply be swallowed up by the shifting earth or overgrown by plant life, only to be found at a later date. I figure most of our iron based creations, steel, etc. wouldn't last more than a few millennia. But our better stoneworks, ceramics, plastics, aluminum, and exotic metals might still be around and partially recognizable.

The magic part I'm just having fun with. Yes, Ponsor would find such a thing very interesting.

Did you not say somewhere that the seeds for the anthro civilizations were planted with the Rats of NIMH (movie version)?  It would be interesting to think of how that would have progressed to species other than rodents and how that civilization grew while human civilization declined.  Did the human civilization ever become aware of the early anthro civilization?

The National Institute of Mental Health is in Bethesda, MD.  So Thorn Valley had to be in North America.  Wouldn't that mean that the "Old World" for Anthros were the Americas and the "New World" was Europe?  Then again, 50 000 years is a very long time.  So "Old World" and "New World" may not mean as much.  I'd be curious to know if you came up with how the early Thorn Valley civilization in North America progressed to the European Mossflower civilization.
Chucky
3 years, 5 months ago
I did indeed. Although I think I'm going with the book version instead, there is so much more sci-fi to it. Humans were aware of animals becoming more intelligent, it was noticeable. But this occurred during humanity's last decades, so the overlap was limited and had no effect on future anthro culture. When we died out, the future anthros were still animals, just intelligent. They could use the things we left behind, but couldn't reproduce them. Even the Rats of NIMH and their offspring were too few in number to rebuild an advanced society beyond Thorn Valley.

As far as intelligence spreading to other creatures. I was kind of thinking the scientists at NIMH may have continued their work and shared it with other countries or something. Or, when Jonathan Brisby gets eaten by Dragon, the serum makes the jump to cats. Dragon gets some local female cat pregnant, she has intelligent kittens. One of the kittens gets eaten by a coyote and so on.
FrancisAshley
3 years, 5 months ago
That's one possible concept to how intelligent anthros could develop.  I did read a really great fanfic years ago where Jonathan Brisby actually faked his death to go on a covert mission back to NIMH with a few rats to secretly gather all the data on the NIMH serum they were injected with.  He did so in order to be able to give his wife Elizabeth Brisby the same advanced intelligence, and more importantly his longevity.

https://www.thornvalley.com/the-rats-of-thorn-valley.html

There was also a sequel: https://www.thornvalley.com/second-in-command.html

Sadly, the author died just a few years after the sequel, but it stands to this day as one of the best-written NIMH fanfics.

Oh yeah I remember when he first published that. I thought it was very well done, one of my favorites as well. That whole Secret of NIMH fan community was my gateway into furry.

What I also like about this fanfic by Paul Gibbs is that it sets up the premise of allowing the Rats of Thorn Valley to grow in numbers without the risk of inbreeding.  Their numbers were so few to allow for a good gene pool.  If other rats or the Brisby children were to meet (and fall in love with) other rodents outside of the Thorn Valley colony, they could possibly be given the NIMH serum like Elizabath Brisby was.

It wouldn't be too far a leap then to imagine the NIMH serum being given to other species in the years that followed (i.e. orphan kitten raised by rats of NIMH).
Chucky
3 years, 5 months ago
It's been 20 years since I read it, but I remember that. Although the fact that the Brisby kids were intelligent shows that as long as one parent has had their genes altered, the effects will be present in the kids.

In that 4th panel, that look on her face seems, to me at least, to suggest she might have been hoping he wouldn't make the connection about her Uncle being the same mentor who took her virginity.
Chucky
3 years, 5 months ago
She almost spilled the beans a while back, right after her and Chucky first had sex. She's a little more self conscious about it now, especially since she could feel Chucky make the connection before he said anything.
