no.12: Prof. E. Gadd - Luigi's Mansion
Let us never forget that not all mad scientists a evil, or at least criminally insane; such is the case with one, Elvin Gadd of Mario Bros. fame. Now, I've touched on the Luigi's Mansion series before in my years of doing these countdowns (how could I not?) but always focusing on the eponymous Luigi, not on the eccentric old man whom without, these ghost busting adventures couldn't even take place!
It's safe to say that the Luigi's Mansion series is close to my heart. In fact it's almost a yearly tradition to replay the first one during October, so it's a outright shame that I've never given the cook his well deserved dues! E. Gadd has been a favorite of mine since the moment I saw him and the fact that his mental state and regard for human life seems to dwindle with each new appearance only makes me like him all the more! It's nice too that a character that could have easily just been resigned to a single game has lived on to be included into the Mario Bros. series as a whole, which if you know anything about the Mario series... that's kind of shocking!
More shocking still to me though is that we got more than just a single Luigi's Mansion game and quite possibly could get more in the future. Might I say, that very fact still restores some faith in the world for me... if even a little.
