Clarence is driving the family's 1960 Chrysler 300 (then a new car only 8 months old) Daddy Al is riding on the passenger's seat. Oldest brother Jed is leaning forward over the console from the back and telling Clarence, "Clarence! Stop!"
What had actually happened that day when Clarence was fooled by that 2nd train, Al lunged his leg across the console and slammed on the brakes just in time to avoid getting by an 85 mph passenger train...and with only two feet to spare.

Fortunately, Jed's nightmare was only a bad dream.
Of course, Clarence was told by Daddy Al not to proceed until he was told it was safe to do so...Clarence disobeyed Daddy by assuming it was all clear then putting it in drive and stepping on the gas.
