I strongly suspected it would be a prince since Cat Kingdom 08. The most logical explanation for why the "princess from the neighboring kingdom was not invited" is that there is no princess in the neighboring kingdom, but a prince instead. That's what that line immediately suggested to me. However I lost hope somewhere from 08 to 18 given the clear species angle the story had foreshadowed since the beginning. I also thought having both plot twists simultaneously would be too much and so it would either be a princess of another species or a cat prince. Well I was right about the prince but wrong that it couldn't also be another species.
