Megan has added a new earring to her collection, in the form of one of Zaiks' quills, graciously given to her by the sweet hedgehog as a token of their friendship and close connection to each other. I think it looks really cute on her, and it's meant to become an official and permanent addition to her design as well.
I actually had to look that up. From what I learned in 10 seconds of browsing Google, hedgehog spines cannot be detached at will like a porcupine's quills, and they are smooth so they won't hook into you if you get poked by them. They are modified hairs, however, and hedgehogs will occasionally shed their spines like a dog or cat sheds their fur, though not anything like as frequently. I think it normally happens in adolescence and a few other times in their lives, barring illness. That being said, Zaiks is a pretty special hedgy, so I'll leave it up to him how she came to have one of his spines.

That's actually pretty freaking cool XD . It's kind of like how a snake sheds it's Skin n_n . I figured they weren't hooked like Porcupine Quills, otherwise you wouldn't be able to pet em or snuggle em XD . They're probably also not hallow like a Quillpigs Quills.

Besides that, Zaiks is not a 100% hedgehog. He is mostly human after all. So his quills get loose like normal hair. Thou he doesn't like to cut his hair/quills, because they are much thicker than hair and you would see the flat end of a quill where it's cut. Would look stupid. So he tends to just let them fall off on their own, what happenes much more regulare than for example with Megans long hair. Zaiks quills weight a bit more of course so they can't get to long bevore they fall off.
Oh and due to the hair-quill combination, they are much softer than they appear. It's more like young pine needles. So you could easyly make a knot into a quill.
