This is just a piece of random fan art I created about 10 years ago I decided to upload (I told you I've been a furry fan for a long time before joining this site. Yes I finally got a hold of my old art but I'm only going to upload it a little bit at a time).
This one might require a little bit of explaination. Way back in the beginning of sonic's history, before the release of Sonic 1, there was an idea that Sonic would be the lead member of a rock band. They planned to show case the band in the sound test. They decided to scrap this feature for time constraints. Mach The Rabbit was this pink male rabbit who served as the drummer for the band. Of the band members I liked this one best. The other 3 band members were Max the Monkey, Scratch the Parkakeet, and Vector the Crocodile. I was thinking of writing an alternate timeline fan fiction based on the original concept of sonic in a rock band. I thought it be cool if instead of going on his adventure solo he was joined by his best bro Mach the Rabbit, who would be just as fast. You know, a friend sonics own age that served as his co-adventurer before he teamed up with tails in Sonic 2. There were obvious reasons to tie these two together. Firstly the colors, blue and pink, fit as opposites and foils to each other. Also their names were the only ones based around the theme of speed. Here I decided to give them matching sneakers and goggles with sonic using red as his secondary color and Mach using blue. They both appear to be cocky.
This is only loosely based on the original design of the character. This design is my own and is more detailed than the original. Also Mach the Rabbit is not to be confused with the grey rabbit character that grabs rings with his ears that eventually became sonic the hedgehog. Its a shame given the huge heroes gallery in sonic that Mach never saw the light of day, though he had a brief appearance in the sonic comics and there is some official art with him. Still he is definitely one of the more obscure and lesser used sonic characters.
Just for the record I never wrote the fan fiction but I was planning on including the human girlfriend element from the original story concept, as well as the idea that sonic was born on earth with humans, eggman was once a good scientist who got corrupted by the chaos emeralds, etc. It was meant to be a retelling of Sonic 1 if we lived in a parallel dimension where this had all made it to the final game. The emphasis on Mach as a secondary character and sonics best friend was my own spin on the idea however.
