Believe it or not, that's inspired by a Victor Borge comedy routine in which he talks about some of his relatives, one of whom was an inventor. Among the inventor's accomplishments was crossing a turkey with a sponge. It tasted horrible. But, boy, did it soak up the gravy.
Another of the inventor's inventions was a new soft drink called 4-Up, but it wasn't a success. He tried again with 5-Up, but it flopped. After he tried once more with 6-Up and flopped, he died brokenhearted. Little did he know how close he'd come!

I kind of remember that routine. Another of his routines I liked what when he replaced punctuation marks with sound effects. The late great Archie Campbell did the same thing.

Phonetic Punctuation, whereupon Borge gave each particular punctuation mark a sound and gesture. He then would illustrate how it worked with a short story of a romantic encounter.
Yeah. I loved it when Victor Borge did it and when Archie Campbell did it. It's been many years since I heard Archie Campbell's version but I think he used a different, albeit similar, story.

It's been years since I last used a pop-top can, but even then, I never used profane language. Even today, no matter how frustrated or angry I am at something, I never do. But I'm weird.

I wish I could honestly say that but, I was raised by a man whose two favorite words when he got angry were GD and SB. Needless to say, hearing curse words come out of my father's mouth on a semi-regular basis tended to affect me. People have learned that when they see me getting frustrated and starting to growl, I'm about to make a sailor blush. LOL.

My dad rarely got angry, but he also wasn't against profanity. He just didn't sprinkle it in his speech like many people do. But I made a conscious decision long ago in my childhood to never use profanity which I've kept to even when others would drop an F-bomb. It's partly because I don't like the words, partly because I don't like the feelings behind the words, and lastly partly because I don't like being punished and don't want to risk it from any direction. Even my parents thought I could get prudish.
