In the artwork for this one, I drew fan art of the wolf and rabbit characters from the Russian cartoon, Nu Pogodi. After all, the former Soviet Union still existed when that cartoon series was created.

Younger furs weren't around to remember the Iron Curtain, and there are many who have never even heard of it. However, us grey mussels remember the Radio Free Europe commercials asking for funding donations to continue broadcasting programs into Soviet block countries.
After World War II, the Soviet Union employed a method of jamming radio station signals coming in to their country from Western European (radio broadcasts from "the free west"). How the Iron Curtain signal jamming system worked was rather simple really. It was a series of signal broadcasting stations within their own country operated by the KGB for the sole purpose of broadcasting a loud buzz-saw like noise on the same frequency the Western European radio stations broadcasted on. In the west, that system was too far away to be a problem. However, in the Soviet Block countries, no one could listen to radio programs from the west because of the interfering noise on the same frequency. This left only the Soviet radio programs being available to those who live there.
Radio Free Europe broadcasted free speech programs into Soviet block countries through various methods of circumventing their jamming efforts, mostly by broadcasting on frequencies not yet used, thus not yet jammed by the KGB. Or overriding the jamming frequency with a signal strong enough to be heard above the interfering noise.

The USSR was surely a dictatorship, fair enough, but the US was full of bullshit as well and had some serious social issues that they could exploit with ease.
