It's been a long day, and a lot of money has been spent. Rorick loves his niece, he really does, but she just can't stick to a budget. As a treat for her upcoming birthday, he took her on a trip to the mall. He laid out the budget beforehand, but he just couldn't say no to that excited face. When he saw the damage at the end of the day though? It almost stopped his heart. He could afford it, but just barely. He was determined to get his money's worth though, and he knew a way to do that.
And now I get to introduce you to another new character! Today you just so happen to be meeting Rorick's neice Lily! And before you say anything, she's not Natalie and Theo's daugter, but Rorick's older sister Emily's and her mate's. That's right! Rorick has another sibling who's been kept under wraps. One day I might have the money together so you all can meet the bunch.
(Oh, and for those who may be concerned, this isn't canon. In reality, Rorick is a doting uncle.)
Uncle Rorick learns what so many of us have had to find out the hard way. You never come out of the toy aisle with your wallet unscathed. Toy manufacturers should be shot for the prices they charge! It's nice to get to meet another member of his family, though, even if it's not in the happiest of circumstances. She's a total cutie, and I don't think anyone with a heart could resist that sweet little face.

I could have sworn I replied to this, but I guess IB or firefox ate it.
While I agree with the sentiment, Rorick's downfall was the clothing shops. You could say the same thing about fashion brands as toy stores though. And forget the outlets. They're so sneaky! You see such good discounts, and you're blinded to the price of the final order until it's rung up. And I guess that face is also Rorick's downfall. lol

Well in theory this part could be canon and the next part not. Simply they get in the car or bus or when they get home he just simply gets frank at her about it. And this alleyway is a shortcut.

Nah, canon Rorick's a total softie for his niblings. Even if she did go way over budget, canon Rorick couldn't be mad at her. His main concern would be how he's going to find the money to up the birthday budget for four other siblings she has. Luckily for him, Natalie's kids aren't old enough to be concerned about shopping trips at this point in time.

I have a cool uncle or two like that! But still they did give advice. How about this, he's just burning it off now but hiding it from her? By the time they get too car/bus it's all over?
Heck as her uncle it's basically his duty too let her do stuff her parents won't, mine did!

I just realized I actually pegged the date wrong for this. I was thinking 2034 for some reason, when this would take place in 2024. Based on that, this actually could be canon, though for spoiler reasons I won't go into why he's Mr. Grumpface. But it would be enough for his frustration to break through for a moment before, as you said, letting it go at the bus.
The year is also good for his wallet because that means Natalie doesn't have any kids yet he needs to budget for birthdays. lol And yes, Uncle Rorick is there to be the bad example in life.
