On a summer night in the year 1960...
The Hell raising teenage pit bulls are out cruising for trouble again tonight.
It's "live wild, have fun, and who gives a damn about what tomorrow brings".

Biff, the oldest at age 18, is driving.
His girlfriend Sandra, also age 18, is riding beside him.
Biff's younger brother Richie is riding shotgun,
On the left side of the rear seat is Gaston.
Riding middle rear is Richie's girl friend Aiva.
Riding right rear is Gaston's girl friend Roxane.

Right now, they are passing around a 5th of Old Crow whiskey as they go speeding down a Highway in their home state of New Mexico in the 1959 Cadillac that belongs to Biff and Richie's parents.
Once that Old Crow whiskey bottle is empty, chances are one of them will fling it out into the windshield of an oncoming car.

A song presently plays on the car's radio;

Glen Glenn - Blue Jeans & A Boy's Shirt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPBoVR4TLks
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoFp7A-c6JE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLvTMcWYBTw

Their source of revenue for buying cigarettes, putting gas in Daddy's Cadillac, and paying someone age 21 or older to buy whiskey for them comes from breaking into vending machines, pillaging money from coin-op laundromats they smash up at 3 o'clock am, and stealing gumball machines.
How the Collindale Pitbull Brothers and Friends Left a Laundromat by moyomongoose

A small amount of their revenue comes from skipping class in high school long enough to go to the nearby elementary school and beat up cubs on the playground to steal their lunch money during recess...that is until a teacher notices what's going on and runs them off.

Biff, Richie and Gaston are classic typical high school bullies.

Seeing this artwork makes me think of the song "Original Sin" by Taylor Dane http://youtu.be/7p2-ro7z1-Y especially the last verse:
"I'm applying for a license to thrill
Going out on the edge, moving in for the kill
And there'll be Hell to pay someday, put it all on the bill
Cause we'll always be paying and paying until
We're beyond expiration with a license to thrill"

Pretty cool song. It's the first time I heard it. And it does fit that bunch well.

There's a song that comes to my mind that wasn't around yet in 1960, otherwise I would have had it be the song on their car radio:
AC/DC - Highway to Hell

Three more that come to mind are;

Supertramp - Take The Long Way Home (1979)

zz top - bad to the bone

The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil

Those are some pretty cool songs, and they'd work as well.

You're so good at drawing cars. I remember having a pink Caddy Eldorado scale model back when I was a kid. I saw one just recently and it is the most breathtaking car I've ever seen. It is MASSIVE, so elegant. I have a soft spot for these huge American cars from the 50's all the way to the 80's

Thank you for the compliment.

Those were good cars back then. The Oldsmobile Toronato was a similar car to the El Dorado.

The Buick Riviera was also a cool car (the car that had somewhat of a boat tail rear end). I don't know if it was front wheel drive like the El Dorado and Toronado.

By the way, Biff, Richie and Gaston and that '59 Cadillac won't last to see the end of 1960.

I too remember having one of those pink '59 Cadillac model kits at one time.  The fact that the parts were molded in pink actually upset my dad because he figured males shouldn't pink cars.  He told me to change the color, but I kept it pink anyway.  I now have another '59 Cadillac model kit, but this one's turquoise.  I already have a pink Caddy, a 2005 Escalade.

But to be honest, you'll only see a pink '59 Caddy in model kit form.  No real Caddies had that color. (I read that fact in an online article once.)

In the 61 years I've lived in the U.S., I don't remember actually seeing a pink Cadillac. However, there were some colours that were close to being pink, though not an out and out pink.

For 1955, the closest colours to pink I see on a colour code chart are Pacific Coral, which is a very dark pink. And Saddle Beige, which is almost white with some pink.

1956; Mountain Laurel, which is a dark pink, but not as dark as Pacific Coral.

1957; Mountain Laurel like in '56. And Bois DeRose, which is a light pinkish grey.

1958; Tahitian Coral, which is a dark pinkish grey.

1959; Wood Rose, which is a light pinkish grey. And Persian Sand, which is a dark pinkish grey.
Below is a link to a 1959 Cadillac in Persian Sand. It is still not an actual basic pink.

You have to scroll up to see it.

1960: Beaumont Beige, which is almost white with very little pink. And Sienna Rose, which is a greyish pink.
Below is a link to a 1960 Cadillac in Sienna Rose.

1961: Canyon Copper, which is a dark greyish pink. And Fontana Rose, which is a darker greyish pink.

Those are some nice-looking shades of pink you mentioned there.  I especially like the Persian Sand paint because of the metallic look to it.

So tell me, what kind of pink would you call this: http://www.deviantart.com/mr-pink-rose/art/Elvis-has-r...

That's a basic pink. I don't know if Elvis had that car custom painted, or if that was a factory colour.

Your guess would be as good as mine.  All I know is Elvis did have a car just like that.

The closest colour to that I see on the 1955 Cadillac paint chart is Pecos Beige.

I just did look it up on Wikipedia. When Elvis Presley bought that 1955 Cadillac, it was blue with a black roof. Elvis did have the car repainted pink.

" On July 5, 1955, Elvis purchased a new Cadillac Fleetwood Series 60 in blue with a black roof. Having mentioned a Pink Cadillac in the song "Baby, Let's Play House", the first song recorded by Elvis to appear on a national chart which made #5 on the Billboard Country Singles chart in July 1955;[1] Elvis had the car repainted by Art, a neighbour on Lamar Street. Art designed a customized pink color for Elvis which he named "Elvis Rose," but the car kept its black roof. Once the car was finished Elvis gave it to his mother Gladys as a gift.[2] Mrs. Gladys Presley never had a driver's license, and Elvis drove the car with the members of his band for most of 1955–1956.

On September 2, 1955, Scotty Moore drove the car into a vehicle which was passing a pick-up truck in Texarkana, Texas, causing $1000 of damage. Having signed his contract with RCA in November 1955, in March 1956 Elvis had the upholstery replaced, the body retouched and roof painted white. (As can be seen in the book "A Boy from Tupelo", from FTD/2012, in 1955 the Cadillac already has the white roof).

18 may be the drinking age where I live and even under that can be given it too a degree by legal guardians but punks (or anyone) driving... HELL NO!
moyomongoose
3 years, 7 months ago
In New Mexico, the drinking age was always 21 to begin with. The pit bull teenagers have always bribed adults who were willing to buy it for them.
TheGroundedAviator

It's 21 throughout the US I think. Yeah, I've had punks try it with me in town, I told too go **** themselves.
moyomongoose

It did go nationwide in about 1980.

There was a time I was drinking beer legally at age 19.
TheGroundedAviator

The US was meant too go Metric then as well! In the end what's wrong with a few beers? I enjoy a few now and then! You can vote at 18.
moyomongoose
3 years, 7 months ago
Just before the voting age came down to 18, I remember the slogan teenagers used in the early 1970s who were old enough to be drafted to go to Vietnam:
" "If you're old enough to fight, you're old enough to vote:

TheGroundedAviator

It's why it was lowered. It was seen as fair enough that those being drafted have a say in those who draft them. Still they only drafted men, in my book sexist.

It was what it was. There were social norms back in the day we don't consider normal today.

I'm all for equal opportunity, but outcome can't be guarantied. A small number of women have tried out for the NZSAS but I don't know the outcome.
