Fern laid across JJ’s lap as they watched there movie while rose took her afternoon nap. The two were enjoying the family life they had started together. They had a steady income thanks to Fern, subsidized housing thanks to JJ’s mom Michael, and they had Rose for over a year now. The two felt they were getting the hang of parenting. Meals were an easy thing, entertaining her while Fern was at work was always fun. Especially when they went to go see grandparents. And anytime Rose was sad or had a bad dream they’d be there to make her feel better! Even the sex life was great still! Fern and JJ did it regularly. Rose was too young still for them to do anything kinky, however the occasional naked cuddles made her feel more comfortable around them. Life was nearly perfect. “Hey fern?” JJ piped up. “Yes honey?” Fern asked looked up at him. “I’ve been thinking lately” JJ started. “We’ve been doing great with Rose, how would you feel about adding one more to our family?” “You mean adopt?” Fern asked curiously JJ shook his head. As noble as it would be he had another Idea. “No, I was thinking one of our own making with a female.” “Hmmm” Fern said. “I’d be on board, but what about Rosey?” JJ tilted his head curiously “I mean, how would she feel about us welcoming in a baby cub in our house? Would she feel left out or unloved or replaced after everything she’s been through?” JJ knew what fern was talking about. He had the hard part of telling Rose her biological father was back ion the picture again after being given up for adoption, It didn’t help much that Rose was technically his own cousin. Rose almost shut down after hearing all that and it took a bit for her to adjust to that. “You got a fair point” JJ said. “I wouldn’t want to put her through worse things then she’s been through” “Neither do I” Fern said softly “I’m not shutting down the Idea of a baby of our seed, but we do gotta consider Rose and her roll in this” “We do indeed” JJ nodded “Maybe when she wakes up we can talk to her and see how she’d feel about it?” “We could yeah!” fern nodded “Yeah, we’ll talk to her explain where we’re coming from gently and see what she says” “And respect her decision if she says no?” Fern asked “Yeah” JJ nodded kinda glumly “It’ll sting if that’s the case, but I love her so much that I’ll take that sacrifice if she says no” “Me too” Fern smiled and held JJ’s paw in his, “If she says yes I have the perfect lady in mind” “Oh really who?” JJ asked curiously. “Remember Carol from High School?” ‘Oh Carol? The one we took to prom?” JJ said surprised. The two had taken her to prom and made her night one to remember. “Yeah she’s working our IT department with me and said she’d be willing if we ever wanted to put in the effort” Fern explained. “Oh!” JJ perked up “Well I’d be down for it, but first we better ask Rose when she wakes up” Rose woke up an hour later with a yawn and rolled out of her bed. She made her way to the bathroom did her thing and came up to the front room to see her two daddies watching there movie still. JJ was the first to notice she was up and smiled over at her and waived her over. “You have a nice nap pumpkin?” “I sure did Daddy!”Rose wagged as she came over “What are you and papa watching?” “We’re watching Detective Flint Morten” Fern explained “It’s a long running show that Grandpa Michael and Jim watched with us” “It’s a little adult rated though because it has sex in it” JJ explained. “Oh” Rose nodded “You and papa gunna do that later?” “Huh? No,” JJ said off guard. “The sex in the show is ok, but there’s story like in this episode someone stole a valuable and expensive Jewel and he busts the bad guy who happens to be doing his wife and says “Diamonds are forever, but sadly your time won’t be” Rose Giggled “I get it, cause he’s going to jail for stealing?” “That’s Right” Fern nodded “You’re very smart~!” Rose Blushed but smiled brightly at her dads. JJ looked at Fern and he nodded. “Actually honey there is something Papa and I want to talk to you about” JJ said with a smile. “What’s that daddy?’ Rose asked tilting her head. “Well Papa and I have been considering adding another cub to our family” JJ started “Really?!” Rose gasped going wide eyed. “Yeah we have” Fern said. “The hing is though, we’re looking at having a baby cub this time, And I’m sure you know babies require lots of care and attention for the first few years of life” Rose nodded knowing how the care takers at the orphanage had to take extra care of cubs. “Our worry is you Rosey” JJ said “Papa and I know you’ve been through a lot, more then any lil princess has gone through in there early lives, and Papa and I don;t want you to feel like we love the baby more then we love you neither do we want you to feel unwanted or replaced…” “Because Daddy and I love you dearly Rosey” Fern chimed in “We would love you and this new cub equally with all of our hearts” Rose smiled a little teary eyed and hugged them both. Fern and JJ moved closer and hugged her too just as tight. “I love you daddies” “We love you too” JJ and fern said after giving each other a looks. “I think, I’d love to be a big sister” Rose said finally JJ and Fern smiled at each other hearing Rose’s blessing. Six months had passed since discussing adding to there family. Fern and JJ met with Carol and spent a night with her making sure they did the mating part right while rosed stayed with Grandpa Jim and Michael. Sure enough it worked and Carol announced two months later she was pregnant to the delight of everyone. JJ Fern and Rose spent time getting the spare room cleaned and prepped and stocking up on diapers and baby supplies. JJ and Fern also did there parts to make sure Carol was taken care of as well during her term. They even followed her in to see doctor Tim one day to get the result from the ultrasound. As carol sat on the table bed Dr. Tim, a lion came in with the ultrasound machine and smiled at the two boys. “Added a lovely lady to the fold?” “Nah she’s a long time friend of Fern and I uncle Tim” JJ explained. “Wait you two are related?” Carol piped up curiously at JJ “No” JJ shooks his head “My brothers and sister, and I call him uncle because he’s like family to us” “Oh I see” Carol nodded “You going to do the ultrasound?” Tim nodded “I’ve don it a dozen times and don;t worry these boys can vouch for my professionalism in sensitive matters” “I don’t doubt you doctor.” She smiled as took her shirt off and set it aside. Time smiled and got the ultrasound machine up and running. He took the scanner part and added lube to it before placing it on her tummy and started scanning. As he moved it around he spoke up “You had your initial check with Veronica right?” “Yeah, 3 months ago she confirmed my pregnancy” Carol nodded. “Mind if I ask the plan for the baby?” Tim asked “The baby is there’s to take and raise” Carol said simply “They’re great dads and friends already so no matter what they’re having my child” “That’s wonderful…where is it” Tim muttered scanning the screen “Aha There you are little one!” JJ and fern looked at the ultrasound screen and could see the shape of what looked like a baby mouse forming still. The two looked at one another and smiled. “Strong heartbeat…looks healthy….and looks like it’s a little boy” Time smiled JJ and Fern grinned at one another as Tim printed the photo. “Could we name him James?” JJ asked Fern. Fern looked at the pic and smiled at JJ “James sounds perfect to me” Carol smiled and wrapped an arm around the two boys and hugged them close. Rose took the news of a baby mouse brother happily. During the final months of the pregnancy JJ Fern and Rose repainted the baby room and bought some cute clothes for him to wear. Rose even picked out a blanket that had mouse astronauts on it to Fern’s delight. Carol kept in contact and sent regular updates through Fern. The D-day soon arrived unexpectedly as it was a day early. Fern rushed over to grab carol and brought her to the hospital while JJ grabbed Rose from daycare and brought her along. JJ arrived and saw Fern was already parked and inside, Once he got parked, the older wolf unbuckled Rose and they hastened inside to see Fern waiting in the lobby. “They just took her back” Fern said meeting them. “Once she’s checked in we can wait in a waiting area and they’ll let us know when she’s given birth” JJ nodded and Rose smiled at Papa. “Am I gonna meet my baby brother soon?” “You sure will pumpkin” Fern smiled “But we gotta wait a bit okay?” Rose nodded and wagged hear tail excitedly. After a bit a nurse came and collected the three and escorted them to a waiting room near maternity and explained everything on the way. “Her contractions are more becoming more frequent and is already dilated which means she’s on track for delivery within the next two hours. We’ve already been made aware of your intentions to adopt the baby I’ll be by soon with a few forms to sign in a little bit. Are there any questions?” “Will we get to hold the Baby once it comes?” Rose asked quickly The nurse, a wombat, smiled at Rose’s excitement. “Yes you will but first we’ll need to do a small exam to make sure the baby is healthy before we let your daddy’s and you hold it” “Could you let Carol know we’re with her in spirit, and to thank her again for us?” JJ asked. “I shall pass that along immediately” she smiled at them as she ushered them into a a small waiting room. The three took a seat and waited eagerly. The nurse returned and gave both JJ and Fern lots of paper work to fill out, and brought Rose some chocolate milk, which she happily drank. The older wolf and mouse filled out the paperwork in time for the nurse to return to say she’s in the delivery room and the cub is on it’s way. Rose climbed up in JJ’s lap and held his paw happily. JJ squeezed it gently and smiled to her. “Excited on being a big Sister?” “Yeah!” She nodded wagging “You gonna help Papa take care of him while I’m at work?” Fern asked as he laid a paw on there’s She nodded again smiling. Time ticked by slowly as the three waited for news or anything, Rose Found a chair to curl up in for a small nap. JJ and Fern sent messages out to family letting em know a new baby was on the way. Forty-five minuets ticked by and over the speaker they heard the sound of a lullaby filled the room. JJ’s ears perked at the sound. He knew the hospital played a lullaby whenever a new cub has entered the world. He smiled over at Fern who was looking curiously at the sound. The wolf nodded and smiled. Fern leaned over with a smile and nuzzled JJ’s cheek happily. It was a half hour later when the nurse came in. JJ turned and let out an audible gasp as his paws covered his muzzle and he stood up. In her arms were not one, but two baby mice who’s eye’s weren’t fully open yet. Fern’s jaw dropped as he stood up and moved closer with JJ. “I’ve got two special boys I want you both to meet” the nurse smiled “Oh my gods!” JJ gasped moving closer. The nurse handed off one of the baby mice to Fern who took him and held him carefully. “He was the first one” She said softly “He’s so precious!” Fern gasped looking down at him. “Hi baby James” The nurse turned to JJ and handed him the other baby and smiled “He was born five minuets later” She explained JJ took him in his arms astonished. As he held the infant mouse in his arms he couldn’t form words to express his bewildered joy and shock as he looked at his youngest son his hear melted with pure joy as he felt something special about him. The lady nurse noticed and tilted her head “Not expecting twins?” JJ snapped out of his shock and looked at the nurse “No, no, we weren't” JJ said. “Don’t get me wrong I’m beyond excited just… I didn’t expect a second beautiful happy soul to join our family." “Ah see” The nurse smiled warmly “Well the fates must have felt you two did something good to be worthy and blessed you with two happy and very healthy twin boys” “I guess so” JJ smiled finally “but what should we name this one?” “Tony?” Fern asked “Mmmmm…Doesn’t seem like a Tony” JJ shook his head JJ thought a moment as he smiled at his baby boy. He put a finger on his chest and pet him gently. Suddenly a little paw came out of the blanket and touched JJ’s finger JJ’s heart melted as a tear formed in his eye it was as if the baby was saying hi for the first time. Then it hit him a perfect name for this special little boy. “Corey.” JJ said with a smile “His name is Corey.” When he said the name the little mouse gave a yawning squeak that got everyone’s attention “I think he likes it” JJ said “I know I do” Fern said. Rose woke up and sat up looking over to her daddy’s as she rubbed her eyes she could see them both standing and each holding a baby. “Wasgoingon?“ she mumbled JJ and Fern looked at Rose and smiled before sitting down on either side of her. “Rosey meet your baby brothers James, and Corey” Fern said softly She gasped and looked at the two babies in surprise. “Awwww they’re so small” “They are” JJ smiled at her “You okay with this Rosey? I know we said one baby but it would seem the fates had other plans for us.” Rose smiled, and nodded she knew about the fates blessing those who are deserving with special gifts. and felt this was one of those moments. "I'm happy daddy and papa!" she turned to her new brothers and smiled before saying softly "Welcome to our family James and Corey" |
