“He’s on his way now” JJ said after putting his phone away.
“Okay good” Leroy said “Did he really bite down that hard?”
JJ nodded folding his ears back making Leroy gasp in shock.the younger of the two wolves was referring to the incident that happened just yesterday evening. Michael was balls deep in Jim when he suddenly went feral and bit down hard enough on Jim’s neck hard enough to puncture an artery, Luckily though they snapped Michael out and stabilized Jim till an ambulance came. Thankfully Jim Survived the ordeal, but the question now is if the emotional damage can be repaired.
“Luckily Julia’s health classes have paid off.” JJ said in relief.
“Indeed” Leroy concurred. “Does the doc know about Michael’s condition”
“He suspects that’s the real culprit. Tim knows his stuff and when he brought it up I kept quiet till I got a one on one with mom and told her to come find you. He needs to know Today.” JJ explained. Leroy nodded in agreement.
“Something tells me this might be my last time seeing him though” He said sounding grim.
“What do you mean?” JJ asked
“After seeing me last week, and now this with your father, then seeing me and hearing what our family tree is like…I’ll be amazed if we find a way to re-kindle.”
JJ put a paw on his shoulder.
“Look, mom may snarl and growl, but he’s not totally unreasonable. He would rather hear a hard to swallow truth then be cheated and lied to. Just tell him most of what you told me and everything will be alright.”
Leroy nodded and smiled putting a paw on his nephew’s leg. JJ smiled and pet his uncles back just as they saw the door swing open. They looked up and saw Michael walking in looking a little ragged. As he came over Leroy scooted over away from JJ. The younger wolf flashed a frown at him then looked at his mom. “Have you gone to see dad yet?”
Michael shook his head “Not yet I need answers.”
“Well that’s why we’re here je..er Michael” Leroy said catching himself.
Michael looked between the two of them then took a seat. Leroy could see the pain in his eyes as he looked at him he could only take a breath. “I um…well JJ’s told me about Jim.”
Michael nodded looking visibly shaken “He’s alive…I nearly killed him though…I didn’t know what I was doing till…”
“I know” Leroy said calmly.”You weren’t you and went feral on him and bit down on his throat”
Michael nodded again. “What the fuck is this Leroy? I can’t hope to face him again without knowing how I can stop it.”
“I’m afraid there’s no definite cure” Leroy sighed. “What you have is called Genetic Feral Disorder, GFD for short…”
“Yeah and it’s name speaks for itself too” JJ explained.
“So I’m likely to go feral?” Michael said sadly
“No no.” Leroy said hurriedly “It’s a temporary thing but can be controlled though practice and a splash of water in extreme cases”
“Mine was an extreme case Leroy” Michael barked.
“I know sis…er brother…still getting used to that” Leroy said with s grumble “I know you’re having a double tough time with what happened and being here with me but please don’t bite my head off again?” Leroy hadn’t quite recovered from the reunion the two had a week ago. Probably wasn’t a good idea to show up unexpectedly but nearly 40 years apart was too long to tolerate for the older wolf. As the two looked at each other with visible pain in there eyes, JJ put a paw on his mom’s shoulder.
“He really is trying mom give him a chance to explain himself”
Michael turned towards him ears pinned back. JJ looked at Michael as if pleading for him to be reasonable.
“Alright” Michael sighed and turned towards Leroy. “Answer me this though, Why didn’t you come back for me?”
“I Did” Leroy said clenching his paw in a fist bitterly “I’m sorry I didn’t sooner but I had personal reasons. But when I did I had a home for us. But you weren’t there and I assumed the worst cases”
“Did you ever look?” Michael asked.
“I did I asked everyone I could if they saw you. Couple older guys did, but said you disappeared.” Leroy sighed “I never lost hope, and I mean no offense but your transition kind of wiped you off the face of the earth for me so looking for you was like trying to find a needle in a grassy field”
“Hmmm fair point” Michael nodded. “I hated you for so long because you never game back and I thought you were dead or just never cared for me”
“I always cared” Leroy teared up “I just…I just couldn’t take care of you. From what I heard from your boy though you got adopted by a good raccoon?”
“I did” Michael said with another nod “He raised me and jimmy with love care and…”
Michael paused and blushed. Leroy grinned a little bit
“Seeex?” Leroy teased a little
“Loads” He replied with a blush “He had such a nice dick”
“Yeah Grandpa was awesome!” JJ said
Leroy nodded and smiled his memory flashing back a moment to his late grandpa.
“I had a good adopted dad like that too. His name was Joey and he was a weasel he took me everywhere and we did lots of things together.”
“Including sex?” Michael teased
“Oh hell yeah.”Leroy nodded “He was my adopted dad later lover then…he died and I met veronica who was a wolf like us and we had Rose…”
“What ever happened to her?” Michael Asked.
“Killed in a car crash” Leroy said grimly. “I loved her dearly and when she was killed I went under and gave up Rose because I couldn’t do it alone…her parent’s didn’t like me so I had no support ”
Leroy gave a whine as a tear shed from his eye. Michael and JJ nodded understandingly. Michael surprisingly leaned over and wrapped him up in a hug. Leroy was surprised as he was hugged but afer a moment he wrapped his own arms around his now baby brother and hugged him tightly as his tail wagged. This was what he wanted for so long to have the chance to hug his only living relative. Leroy sobbed quietly as Michael pat his back.
It took a while for Leroy to let go of Michael. When he finally did the two stared at one another and shared a smile. Leroy’s smile faded first when he realized something. “There’s something you should know about GFD…”
“Aside from being treated with water and practice?” Michael asked
“Yeah” Leroy nodded “It is hereditary to a point…JJ Rose your daughter and youngest son are…Dare I say lucky they aren’t likely to have it”
Michael blinked “I’m glad to hear that...But if It’s hereditary how come they don’t have it?”
“Because Leroy isn’t my dad” JJ piped up.
“What do you mean by that JJ?” Michael asked quite astounded
“What he means is the only way it can be passed if two species of the same genus procreate and they happen to be brother and sister”
It took a moment for Michael to comprehend that when he did he stood up in utter shock.
“Our real parents were brother and sister and so were our grandparents and as par back as out 7th great grandparents” Leroy explained standing up.
JJ stood up too.
“But because you had me Julia and Hennery with dad we’re safe.” JJ explained ”And Rose is safe because uncle Leroy did it with another wolf that wasn’t related”
Michael heard there explanations but was still in shock at what he learned. His biological parents were brother and sister. And had they lived together he might have, as Jennifer fallen in a similar situation where she would have married and bared Leroy’s and her cubs. It was a lot to take in and Michael’s legs finally allowed him to sit back down. Leroy and JJ sat too and rubbed his back.
“So…” Michael said finally turning to Leroy “That’s also why you left? To avoid spreading the Family curse?”
Leroy blinked in surprise he saw JJ nod and nodded as well.
“Yeah…that’s why I left too…”Leroy sighed “I wasn’t fond of the family curse so at first I resented you then…I actually grew to love you then they were killed and it was you and me and I left a while to pursue a new home and when I finally did you were gone or picked up by someone already”
Michael nodded understandingly and placed a paw on his lap as he smiled at his big brother.
“I understand. And forgive you Leroy” Michael said “I only ask you keep work on calling me Michael. I’m not Jennifer anymore. I have a working dick”
“Oh my gods” Leroy Laughed “Well I’ll work on it. And I doubt it’ll happen but if you ever want some brotherly love, I’d be willing”
“We’ll see” Michael said standing up “One step at a time, First I gotta go apologize and make things up to my husband”
“I’m sure once you explain things dad will forgive you” JJ chimed in with a sincere smile.
Michael nodded to JJ and turned to Leroy. He leaned over and kissed his cheek
“I have your number, I’ll be seeing and talking to you more often. We got a lot to catch up on” Michael said
Leroy smiled up at him and smiled “I look forward to it”
