Hi, I’ve been debating trashing a great deal of IRON lore for a while now. Since the work simply doesn’t have the space for it. I’ve decided to at least try to pursue other options to see how I feel about it. What follows is some additional micro-fiction, completely optional and related to the world as a whole rather than the story at hand.

As always you can support me and IRON at https://ko-fi.com/infinitydoom

Pruned

The civilized world takes its shape from the powerful whims of Noble desire. It is no surprise that certain cruel social mores exist to remove consequence itself, from many Nobles favourite pastime. Because to something as high as Nobility, that is all a bastard is. A messy consequence that one might twist until it becomes productive.

The practice of Pruning, (named such because it keeps hereditary trees proper.) Started like most civilized things; with the Iron King. Someone who sired his own share of illegitimate children. The practice was used to “Protect the sanctity of true Noble lines.” All illegitimate Noble children were to be castrated to prevent them from making their own dynasties and challenging the line. They would be given the lowest rank in society (Citizen status) and be sent into the world.

After the slave trade was ended, however, Nobles began keeping their bastards closer to the family. A Guild run committee prevents even the most powerful Nobles from owning slaves. So the Nobility found a workaround. Many Pruned now spend their lives as servants to their Noble families. A perfectly legal practice. After all, no committee exists to prevent cruelty to one’s own kin...

Love the stuff on pruned. Castration isn't something i'm into and isn't something I hope to see but its place in the lore is fascinating and really gives me a better picture of how this world works.

If you have any other lore like this that isn't important enough to put in an actual page id love to read about said lore in the descriptions of future pages. I think putting that exposition in the description was a fantastic idea.

Also I can't wait to see what comes next.

Thank you, I think these lore texts will be a great place to explore the more extreme aspects of the world safety veiled. And also give it enough space so it may be tackled properly

Did a bit of digging (cause i was bored). I am assuming if they are cousins and illegitimate children are not allowed to breed their fathers are going to be the same species. Given both of their egg groups (gabite: monster/dragon, sandshrew: field) their fathers would have to be either monster/field or dragon/field.

That means unless I'm missing something or egg groups aren't considered in this comic's universe their fathers would have to be one of the following pokemon:
Nidoran♂ / Nidorino / Nidoking
Ekans / Arbok
Rydon / Rhyhorn / Rhyperior
Mareep / Flaffy / Ampharos
Whismur / Loudred / Exploud
Seviper
Scraggy / Scrafty

Kinda curious who it would be (assuming we ever find out)

I guess it's possible their grandfather remarried and both both gabite's dad and sandshrew's dad are legitimate but different species. That would probably introduce more options as to who gabite's dad would be.

Hi, this was something I actually considered a lot, actually it changed Shrewn from Gabens Brother to Cousin. Though it would be still possible for them to be half brothers if Gabens father was one of the species you listed. I ended up choosing to make them cousins cause I thought it would play better. As well as it makes it possible for Gaben’s family to be single species. Which is how I imagine shitty Noble families in my head

Interesting. So that would mean the grandfather remarried if shrewn's dad didn't get castrated. Is Gaben's dad or Shrewn's dad the older brother? Which way did the remarry happen?

I am personally betting on Gaben's dad being the older brother.

Yes, Pruning completely ensures that any Noble with any children is "legitimate". As for the rest of that, those questions are blank spaces that might be filled in one day, through other stories.

No dont do that. This has been your greatest work and is how I found you. Dont skip on this project

I don't think he intends to trash any actual story events just lore/backstory stuff that probably would have made pretty terrible exposition pages if they ever got drawn.

I think the approach used for this page is probably the best way to handle it. Putting it in the description means he can explain some of the thoughts that went into the planning of the story without wasting actual pages or time trying to show/explain the lore.

Ok I have a prediction on what is coming... Gonna make the text the same color as the background for anyone who doesn't want to read my speculation but want to get it on record before it happens. Highlight the text between the quotes if you want to read.

"I bet Gaben is going to offer Veera the chance to evolve into whatever eeveelution he is missing from the collection he most certainly has. If Veera refuses he probably will attempt to force her to evolve."

I actually think it would be appropriate to lore-dump in the description area for each page. That way the story can progress naturally but, like you said, for those interested in more world-building, we can read about it there.

I personally got the hint that he was castrated but the lore was greatly appreciated about "Pruning". So yeah, keep doing what you are doing and I can't wait for the next page!

I think the reason he wants Veera is for breeding. I get that maybe he is trying to complete his collection of evolutions but he could also be wanting a breeding pet. That could be why he makes a big deal in front of her how only he is allowed to mate in his estate. (This is, of course, disregarding Egg Groups if they interfere with breeding)

Ah I was expecting she was going to get turned into a sex slave which is probably what's about to happen but at least it seems she's getting evolved as an introductory perk and if she ever escapes that's a bonus she'll always have.

Saw your comic on the front page and I ended up reading through the whole thing. I'm not really into noncon (dubcon sure), but I guess I found something endearing about your style and world building. I'm definitely excited to see the next page, for sure.

This comic honestly has pretty cool lore and worldbuilding, if super depressing.
