This is a very emotional piece I got from the astounding @minettefraise A year ago in Februrary and March I lost my dearest Weasel (9yrs) and Yui (7yrs) I wanted an emotional piece to commemorate them and how much I miss them and still love them.
Weasel was my first ferret, I rescused him from someone on craigslist who said he was mean and a biter. She kept him in a cage (the size of a rat or guinea pig cage) and never played with him or gave him socialization. Ferrets are extremely social creatures, if you don't have more than one they want constant attention. Weasel was by far one of the most snuggly sweet boys ever. I miss him so much it pains me.
Yui was not a snuggly ferret by any means but she was such a sweet heart and full of personality. She was the first one we lost in February to Insulinoma (a horribly common tumor of the pancreas) Once she passed, Weasel was miserable. They'd been together for so long he couldn't function without her. We let him go a month later, and I still cry when I think about them both.
This piece truely means the world to me. I know my little noodles are always there with me even though I can't see them. <3 Thank you so much again for this beautiful piece of artwork. I can't express my gratitude enough.

My sister feels this way towards her rats. She got a pair, and when one of them got sick and eventually died, she was heartbroken.
She has since gotten two new rats to join the one that was now all alone, since she knew if she didn't get him playmates he would stop eating out of depression.

A lot of people look at 'pocket pets' a lot different than a dog or a cat, and it's honestly annoying, you grow attached and extremely bonded to them just like a dog or cat. v.v We have 3 new ferrets now, but there's always going to be a hole in my heart where those two were so firmly crammed

That pain never really goes away, but it dulls and kind of becomes an almost pleasant reminder of something that you had in the past, a bittersweet memory that keeps you from forgetting the little fuzzies that you loved and lived with, it's beautiful if a little poignant.

You have my sympathies, Dooks. I had two cats that I lost within a year and a half of each other. They were littermates and as completely opposite as you could imagine other than they looked almost exactly alike. I loved them both and it was painful watching one die (she was 11) and having to put the other to sleep (she was 12.5). I still get emotional when I think about it.

i had an albino rat called bonny as a child. i also grow up with farm animals and later zoo animals. i have been around animals most of my childhood and younghood. Watch more animal die then i would like to think off i also have taken animals' life because it sometimes necessary if you don't want them to suffer for whatever reason. When someone has a pet, they miss or are sad because of the loss of a pet i understand. But i have seen so much of that. That i can't really sympathy with it.
