[G] T-Ring concept~

[G] Idle~
[C] Angery bun~
So, I wanna code an RPG. I started by a mock-up of the base mechanics, to know what I'll need to code, and what placeholders I'll need.
-Battle will be turn-based, and simple. Side-by-side, nothing complex.
-Dungeons will be tile-based, you walk around, enemies roaming around, stuff to pick up.
-City will be menu-like. Places to go, you choose where you go and you're there, so it's compact.
-Shops and the like will look like... visual novels? Protagonist on one side, interacted NPC on the other, text on the bottom and shop or options in the middle.

5 basic elements by color. Stuff will have a basic material and sometimes a secondary one.
That define stats bonuses of the item, and pricing.
She can use mana of the corresponding type to improve the item.
Farm items, level up, farm mana, improve items, craft, sell.

Simple game, meant to last a long time, no big drama plot-wise. Chill. XD

NOW. I wanna code it. I wanna draw it.
But I know what I need.
FEEDBACK.

So, either I post here whenever I have something new to show... or I make a Discord server or something like it.
I would think of a $1 patreon just so interested people can see it, but that would requiere it to have a following already (also I think Patreon will die soon :v)

What'cha think? updates here often, or a Discord server?

A Discord server with one channel for posting the images and asking feedback (that would locked to you posting only) and another for us to comment would be better, since it would give us the option to comment and compare other features quickly and have images preloaded and whatnot, and that could already start a small community.

About the elements, I think Gems should be changed to Green / Blue and Bone Grey / Black, that way you'd have 3 of each elements roaming around, and Black being exclusive with bone. It would open for some good variation of weapon/armor system having it like this.

For the stat system, I'd say just be careful about what Luck does. Making it just an 'extra chance' for crits and drops would be good, but it wouldn't add much to the system. However, making it affect base damage, lets say, 75% to 125% of the total damage based on Luck alone wouldn't be a fun ride either. Usually Luck systems use a mix of both, so you'd have to see what is the best option.

Everything else looks pretty ok for a standard RPG, so I can't give much feedback on it.

Green is nature/wood, so doen't fit gems~ and Black is void, so no basic items will use it~
Luck will be, indeed, drops and smal crit chance, but also some special events and a -small- dodge chance. It won't affect damage directly. Most Enemies have no luck, is a player-only boost.

Besides that, some spells are unlocked at certain stats values, and some of them will involve luck, for multiple-effect-chance spells, as an example. So it's just a gameplay option.

First, I agree with the previous discord statement :0

Second, To expand a bit as far as luck, you could use it similar to how its used in fire emblem. By that, I mean that it reduces the crit chance of enemies, so it's basically crit armor :0 that's also assuming enimies would have crit chance lol.  Also a hidden loot drop chance .3. that's something luck sometimes does.

Element/material wise, I'd say you'd have a common and a rare version for each.
For example, for metal you'd have iron and mythril or something like like. I think clay, if kept, would be a single item. Bone mayhaps as well, although something like giant bone(s) could easily make a rare form.

For gems, perhaps having them be related to the various stars rather then an element. This would give you an option for a slot in gear for a boost, or maybe just a requirement for gear crafting. Example, say an armor piece that gives high defence/M.defence requires X mythril, X diamonds (M.def?), And X some other gem I can't decide on lol.

Like, gems related to stats could be like:
HP : ruby (armor/accessories)
Mana : sapphire (accessories/non-metal armor[?])
Attk : ruby (weapons)
Def : diamond (armor)
M.attk : emerald (accessories/non-metal armor[?])
M.def : topaz (same as emerald)
Speed : onyx(?) [Duno what matches here lol]
Luck : diamond (accessories)

Probably would work better as crafting materials in this sense if we're keeping it simple, so not worrying about slots .3.

Going of the materials you've got here:

-Wood-
Basic material, maybe a rare version would be [quality lumber] that's intended for magic based weapons.

-Clay-
Rather then for crafting gear itself, perhaps use this and other materials like [stone] or [wood/quality lumber] to craft weapon molds for non-wood weapons/metal armors?

-Stone-
Perhaps this would be split between [stone] for common and [marble(?)] For rare. I think this would be used like wood in the sense that it's used to make weapon molds, but also a few weapons (like a stone sword, or a giant stone bow).

-Metals-
Mentioned this already above, but yea. Basic metal like iron or something, and maybe [mythril] for rare. Any weapons with magic properties would definitely need the rare version I'd think.

-Gems-
[See above section lol]

-Glass-
[Cloudy glass bead] for common, and maybe flawless glass bead] for rare? Probably another item leaning more twords magical gear imo.

-Leather/textiles(?)-
Mkay, splitting this into two
{Leather} [leather] for common and [quality hide] for rare. Less def then metal armors, no negatives to speed (if metals do impose negative speed) or speed boosts. Maybe a tiny boost to luck sometimes.
{Textiles(?)} [Cloth] and probably [fine silk]. To me these definitely tell low def but high m.def and m.attk.

-Bone-
[Chipped bone] for common, [pristine bone] or [giant bone] for rare? I think these would be used for a couple things. Early game would be lesser armors and maybe simple weapons, but late game for some neat magic based gear like Regen armors and life steal weapons.

Aaaaaand now I'ma chill for a bit XD
I love RPGs and always have tons of ideas for them but I can get kinda rambly lol.

[Edit]
I typed this up on my phone and after posting GOOD LORD THE LENGTH XD

To make it simple, yes, each material has levels/types since the manas to the side is based on what mana you need to improve it to the next tier, so that's all thought of~
And no, I won't link gems directly to stats, as the stats depend on a different mechanic~ not about equipment.
PURRfect93

So gems are linked to mana, would it be levels of mana or elements?

For gear, is it more of an appearance thing, or perhaps makes certain skills available? For example, a spear giving you a specific attack, and upgrading the spear perhaps improves the ability somehow?

Just trying to get a general idea so I can be more helpful .3. I love crafting stuff like this, which was probably evident by my last comment XD

Gems as a concept are linked to mana, just like every crafting material is linked too.
Thing is, this won't be as much about equipment, as it'll be about furniture and random items.
Those, being in the room, will change the working of the dungeon. Certain atrtibutes of the items in the room change the attributes of the dungeon and the enemies.

A boss may be a bounty hunter who is looking for you as you go along (the more fame you have, the more the price of your head will increase)
It can be a strong outlaw (gunman)
Character: DEATH
Basic Attack (lucky shot): shoots you with his revolver (medium distance. -15)
Special Attack (In the sight): Shoots at you with a sniper (long distance. -45)
Ultimate Attack (Last shot): Surrounds you with coins (coins suspended in midair) and shoots his revolver (bullet crashes into coins and hits you in all directions) Cause -85
Passive (Survival): 20% Chance to dodge

No, that wouldn't fit at all with the story/mechanics as I have them~
Is why I look for feedback/oppinions, not ideas, as I've not yet explained to people how the game's supposed to work XD

Yes. Yes it is.
I'm scared as fuck, but I've been thinking over it for YEARS, and I need to get it done sometime.

I would want to carefully plan it out..But, I wouldn't take advice about getting big projects done from me.

That's the goal. I'm mostly, honestly, making this as a practice and for me.
So It'll be chill, a bit grindy, and simple. XD

Seems like RPGMaker would be good for this? It got all the requirements you want, so you can get right into it making content.
Probably best to post here till you got said 'following' or an actual playable demo for backers.

Not at all. Would take a lot of learning and coding to get the things I want working in RPGMaker, I already checked what I can and can't do there... so if I'mma gonna learn a lot, I rather learn it on C# so I'm less constrained. Extra effort, but more flexibility~ ^ ^
