The Lion King

This is an older piece from May. It was mostly inspired by K. Rool’s return to the Donkey Kong franchise.

A savannah luchador would be a fitting disguise for a future adventure. He’d be tackling the kings and tough nuggets of the animal kingdom, all in preparation for a rematch with Donkey Kong.

K. Rool’s classic boxing outfit was a lot of fun to shade in. I thought it would be perfect to use in a homage to Nacho Libre’s climatic battle with rival Ramses. (one of my favorite comedies!)

The lion was originally inspired by a character from Sofurry writer, Mirri. I designed him using her descriptions and that of famous luchador “La Sombra” The markings on the mane reflect those of Sombra’s iconic ring mask, with pedal flares in flow. As a follow up to this battle, all you need to imagine is a pancake :P I hope you enjoy!
