While not too obvious, Stripes actually originated as a Mobian. I used to be pretty heavily into the Sonic fandom before I became a furry, and wanted to give my fursona a callback to old times x3
I'm thinking of starting my own series that's inspired from Sonic but would look/feel different, more grounded, emotional, funner and even darker/maturer. Everything Sonic sorely lacks or refuse to keep consistent to be special.

Could be interesting! I enjoy hearing about people making their own Sonic projects, the universe is one such that its easy to work with and gives such creative freedom

Yeah and what's sad is anything fans create out of Sonic is superior to what Sega does, especially as of late when all they're doing is barebone "comedy" skits that rather insults characters than improve them.

Too true. The Sonic franchise as a whole is subject to change depending on who controls it. Characters tend to have a base personality, but usually fans experiment and can draw out the best from that
Not the creators, though. The more incarnations they make, the more nonsensical and trope-y they get. I can't bare to watch Sonic Boom for it, I saw two minutes and yeeted

The core issue was pumping out so many games at once, changing too much too fast even immediately after establishing a formula that works (Adventure). Now they're playing it so painfully safe that they're too scared to innovate while blaming past "innovations" directly for not working out (which are glorified trend chasing) when it's entirely Sega/ST not knowing which idea fits in the Sonic universe & how to execute them correctly. That's because Sega/ST or should I say Iizuka, are some of the most tone deaf, incompetent developers in the industry. Once he took over, said "Adventure 3 would only cater to hardcore fans" and went full on casual, that's when the series started to backfire and dissolve for the worst. Even today, he's still insisting that his way works even though Sonic's rep, sales have dwindled to the point that it's about to become a black hole and obliterate itself. Not to mention, no offense, fans still excuse every BS just for the sake of being called "fans" and "express positivity" when their "positivity" is nothing more than pure ignorance feeding on the negativity to actually thrive. Why you think almost every game since 2005 blows harder than the last or just as worse as 2006...that fans are HILARIOUSLY declaring it as a """""GOOD""""" game? lol

Its a symptom of how the world is unfortunately. Companies like to play things safe and pander to as wide an audience as possible, and said audiences go along with it and look for any reason to excuse such
I can't say I've played many of the games. My Sonic experience is limited to various cartoons, a few of the comics, the movie, and 2 or 3 games I played growing up. Even then I can tell you the fans care more and while that's a good thing, its blinding as well

You're right. There's just no motivation these days but on the subject of Sonic, it's not that Sega isn't innovative to an extent but they don't know how to execute ideas properly and then blame said ideas if they don't work to never be tried again...even though Adventure formula did work but they fumbled so hard on 2006 they just ditched it rather than slow down on rushing out so many games at one time. I remember they released 4 games in 2006 alone which is just too much. Not even Nintendo spawned that many Mario games at once.
I get fans have good intentions to try to keep Sonic alive but, like you said, they're also blinding to the fact that Sega is the problem and think anybody else handling/owning Sonic IP is a bad thing. Sega has already ruined Sonic, their own IP, for literally 15 years straight and they think anyone else taking the helm would make things worse. lol Wow.
BTW, I think we should allocate this conversation elsewhere. I don't wanna bloat your comment section this way. ^^;

My character had the same origins, though mine's a little more obvious since I kept to a very toony style for him X3 I love Mobian OCs though a ton, it's my favorite character style to see people draw their sonas in~ Your character is quite handsome in either style regardless <3

I can see it, he does have a toony style though there's some Mobian aspects I can pick up on. Definitely a fun style to see, and I appreciate the compliment x3
Same for yours, I like the attitude and fun vibes he gives off~
