The time and place is August 1st, 1960, on Highway 285 north of Encino, New Mexico.
A 1958 Chevy with a beaver couple in it had gone out of control and overturned several miles to the north. Two ambulances have presently arrived to the accident scene. Although the overturned car is not on fire, the fire truck was called out as a precaution, especially being that the two state patrol officers who first arrived on the scene smelled the odor of gasoline. This was also back in the days when some members of a fire crew would ride standing on the back of the truck for quicker disembarkment upon arriving to a fire scene.
Shown below is one of the ambulances when it was still en-route to the accident scene.
This fire truck will briefly be in the next part of the story Clarence Coyote and Project Courier (which will be Part 33)...I have a few more drawings to complete for in-text images before I post it.
