Before Juniper realized she was priestess from another world called Ebon. She never knew why did she have powers and where did she come from because she lived at an orphanage on Earth (or Sonic world Earth or Mobian Earth or Whatever) ever since as a baby. She wasn't so sure how people will react if they see her exposing her powers in front of them. Boy, I suck at this hand pose where she used her purple flame.

probably would work better if she were earlier in earth's history or in a third world part of earth, since anywhere else in modern earth, people would probably react to her powers with: "wizards are real? neat."

It doesn't matter what time, century or history on Earth!

but it does matter what place on earth. for example, new york city would probably think it's just a really good cosplay (seriously, nothing phases anyone there), and detroit would be more likely to try to make good PR with it. "detroit: we have a literal magician". nowadays the only ones who would see her as a freak are the paranoid scizophrenics and religious extremists. the former is someone who nobody would listen to anyway, and the latter is only likely to be taken seriously in poorer countries. otherwise, most people are going to think she's extremely cool.

You know. I just wanted to point things about unexperienced Superheroes being misfits to the world.

Haven't you ever watched superhero origin stories or something?
kamimatsu

yes. the ones in modern times tend to have the reaction be very different from back in the day. to the point that the only setting  nowadays to act like the one you are talking about is x men

And DC comic heroes like Superman or Raven, Duh! Even nowadays can consider Freaky around some people! Duh!

raven is considered freaky because she rarely ever emotes. its not her powers that make her creepy, but the exact methods she uses to control them. it would be equally creepy if someone in a purple hooded leotard whose face showed no emotion, was noticed by someone. this is in heavy contrast to starfire, whose powers are *also* controlled by emotion, but her method of controlling her powers is to stop trying to control them, and to embrace them.

superman keeps his identity secret because his enemies would know exactly who his friends are. he knows his friends would be cool with it, but he's not, because they would be in genuine trouble. lex luthor also just happens to be a paranoid millionaire. if it werent for his own charisma, he'd likely be slammed on social media nowadays for daring to disrespect superman.
