they do this to either: 1. steal art and post it elsewhere. 2. make money off the art by impersonating the artist and linking to a patreon to fool others into supporting them. 3. sell the art to other people either direcly or in tiers like patreon supporters get. 4. steal art directly from the artist by any means such as through discord, stealing private or not yet uploaded art, posting it to another site for either money (through patreon, aka pay for lewds or something to that effect), or uploading it before the artist gets a chance to and claiming it as their own and claiming the actual artist is the thief, causing problems for the artist themselves.
and yes people are this pathetic and greedy, most will do anything to get a few dollars. and if stealing from a popular artist gets them a few dollars theyll do it. most people do fall for that fake artist thing though. which is why they do shit like that, just to steal money and lie to try to ruin the artist, hell theyll even go as far as impersonate the artist, treat their followers like shit and turn the followers against the real artist thinking that they were the one on the other site or place. it sickens me.
