These are additional drawings for a story,  Elias Ferret's Odyssey, which is an addendum story to, Clarence Coyote and Project Courier.
The setting is in New Mexico on Thursday evening of July 28th, 1960, shortly after sunset.

Pics 1, 2, and 3 are after Hank Wolf had stopped to give Elias Ferret a ride, being he is hitchhiking along a lone highway with a bad storm bearing down on him.

In Pic 4...Right after Elias Ferret got in, closed the door, and wound the window up, a bolt of lightning struck close overhead, lighting up everything blue.
It was so close, if Elias had been still standing outside the car, the electro-field would have knocked him to the ground...thus probably also busting his Martin guitar in the process...That Martin guitar is one that Elias Ferret's great grandfather bought back in 1897.
Elias is thankful enough he himself didn't get struck by lightning before Hank Wolf showed up.

Pic 5...The lightning strike is followed by a very loud bang. When lightning strikes that close, it sounds like a single shotgun blast, but so loud you'd swear it was ripping the top of the sky off.
Just before Hank Wolf proceeds to drive, he asks Elias Ferret, "You're not scared of that ole lightning are ya?".
Elias Ferret admitted he is.

Pic 6...Hank Wolf is on his way to taking Elias Ferret to Santa Rosa. Elias' destination is back home with his family near Abbeville, Kansas...However, taking shelter at a truck stop near Santa Rosa is better than being stuck in a bad storm in the middle of nowhere.

Pic 8...They encounter a very heavy rain squall.

Same, bad weather is normal where I live. I'd quite like a desert!

Deserts are pretty cool.

I live in Vancouver. Also Vancouver looks nothing like the desert background in the picture

The closest to Washington State I've been was Frenchtown, Montana. Though I figured with the amount of rain you all get, the land is more lush and green than a New Mexico environment would be.

Vancouver is one of the best places in Canada for growing trees

I guess I was a little off on Vancouver's location. I kept thinking it also extended into Washington.

There is Vancouver Washington and Vancouver Canada.

I found Vancouver, Washington on a road atlas, which is an inland city bordering Oregon.

For some reason, I had mistakingly thought part of Vancouver Island also extended south into Washington. I see on the atlas Vancouver Island is completely in Canada.

I've just now found the city of Vancouver, Canada...In my 66 years of living, I never knew it existed until now.

I use to think there was only Vancouver, Washington (though I didn't know where in Washington), and Vancouver Island.

I am smocked you have never herd if Vancouver Canada. It was the city that hosted the 2010 Winter Olympics. It also hosted the 1986 expo. And there are a few other reasons you may have heard of the city.

I don't know much about the geography in the northwest beyond Montana and Wyoming.

As for the Olympics, sport and expos, I've never followed or showed interest in those things.
