Tarri's Day - The Resurreggtion
Tarri's Day - Lewd
For starters, those who are keeping up with their self-isolation in order to curb the spread of this pandemic.
You are doing admirably. I know it's tough - even I'm going stir-crazy knowing that I am resigned to just this house and going grocery foraging - something I have only done twice since lockdown began almost 4 weeks ago.
My flatmate... less tolerable of the situation. The advantage I have is that I can continue to busy myself right here on my computer, but a lot of what she did, work, social interactions... well, it's getting to her.
So I know that some of us are dealing with the isolation better than others, and those others may be falling apart entirely. Some of us might be caught in-between.
But seriously, the sooner this passes, the sooner things go back to at least some level of normality - I for one am waiting for that day.

To those completely and knowingly flouting lockdown rules, and not giving a damn about what happens to everyone else and by extension, the rest of the country (based on Aotearoa New Zealand, though also to other nations/states with a similar rule in place).
Complete disregard to how important this is in order to get everything back to normality as soon as possible, because you believe you are above everyone else, self-exempt, think this is just a "threat to democracy" and thus ignore it in protest, or just want to prolong lockdown in order to stay off work longer, are either ignorant, or don't give a single damn to anyone or the nation. Some of you are even spitting or coughing on people on purpose, claiming you are going to take as many people down with you, and whether the threat you pose is real, or if you think you are being funny, it is actually an act of terrorism, and you are using the pathogen as a biological weapon.
Given that you cannot control how a pathogen spreads on this level, nor how many lives it affects or takes, you are knowingly doing so, anyway, which is seriously evil and a threat to the stability and security of not only a nation, but to the heath and well-being of humanity as a whole.
Or maybe you lot think it's fun to be supervillain for a month and it is all harmless fun, coughing on people, and inadvertently causing the deaths of someone else's loved one. Maybe you believe it isn't your problem, because you don't know the people.
So just consider your worth as a human being, then.

Because seriously. I want out of this. But if we don't all do our part in coordinating our efforts as a united people, the broken links in our chain will cause the whole thing to come crashing down.
This is seriously important. And if any of us want to see our lives return to normal, it takes all of us.

We are at war against a common enemy, and the enemy doesn't care who you are, has no sympathy, and will use you if you decide to let it.

The thing is many have the feeling that those who give up their freedom for security don't deserve either.

Just saying it observationally.

The thing is, sometimes we need to take such measures to protect that freedom.
Sacrificing freedom for a few weeks is nothing compared to having our freedom impaired for many months. I would prefer to rip the bandage off quickly and get it over with.

I think many who cite the decay of freedom just over something like this aren't actually intelligent enough, or are not willing to learn and understand the situation, and what that sacrifice truly means.
But honestly, it probably depends mostly on the trust a people has in it's government. And so far, we have a lot of that - the number of new cases continues to go down, and today is the second day in a row that the figure has been single-digit, and we have only had 12 deaths at this point, so I am proud of that so far. :3

Yeah I know (Kiwi too). I admit I'm concerned about how it may set a precedent about abuse of power and using it too feed off public sentiment or fear/hate (have before) the like but that is something that one must always think about.
Basically my only concern is there is a legit risk of it becoming a habit and it must simply be remembered without becoming a paranoid conspiracy theorist. Our leaders have shown their willingness too crack down before in a discriminably manner.

I work night in a freight depot so I have more mobility then most hence less cabin fever.

The kiwis shall inherit the Earth! >:3

But yeah... it comes down to the people in power, but I highly doubt the NZ Government is going to exercise such abuse, which is probably why we all trust that we know what they are doing.
Also so happy to have someone like Jacinda at the helm, rather than someone like Trump. xD

Also, you are lucky to some degree! Though I'm not a night person, so I probably wouldn't do well at your job... xD
Now I am wondering where... based on population percentage, I'd say Auckland. xD

We won't... can be cynical.

Maybe, she has shown discrimination herself as anyone does. That mindset is what we as a people have too be careful of, blindly trusting is no different then blindly following.
The Yanks got what they voted for, they're young as a democracy, we've been one since 1893, for them it was 1964.
China's leadership is no better, hiding it for a week, allowing annual events too go on, detaining the scientists who discovered it including the worlds best expert on the class of virus in question... I fear for her. Then all that shoddy gear they're supplying the world.
Then there is that stupid but not un-plausible theory it was a lab accident, I personally don't take it seriously but it may happen, the 1978 Smallpox outbreak in the UK was one and that was the last time it bared it's fangs.
I'm a cynical center-wing moderate so I see fault everywhere.

Wellington. Pays well.

Regarding the larger powers of the world, all of them have skeletons. There is no such thing as one of them being "the good guy" or anything, life isn't that black and white.
I'm not saying New Zealand is perfectly innocent, either - nowhere in the world is.
I don't pretend to believe Jacinda is perfect, don't get me wrong - but in this moment, she has proven herself as a leader, and leaders are what the world needs in times like this. (If you are wondering where my political alliances lie, I'm not actually tied to any one political party (because I think that's a stupid thing to do). I cast my vote based on which policies I believe are best at the time, or at least, the majority of policies which I believe are best (as a party may have other policies I oppose), so in that case I vote for the policies that align with what I believe is best).
The thing to remember about political parties are that it's not the parties, but the people who are part of the parties, who come and go. Atm, Bridges isn't very inspiring and I can't imagine voting National this time around, but... we shall see.

Ah. Bottom of the island. I'm more to the north, but... everyone thinks I will end up in Wellington someday. xD

Well said!

You sound pretty centrist. Yeah, I'm just weary of the notion of allowing emotion too guide judgement and the talk used too "fight COVID-19" is being said in a way dictators often used threats (real or imaginary) too solidify their power.
She's not beneath discrimination, scapegoating, shifting blame or ostracizing if it suites her plans. I'm related too a former Green MP and (despite being sympathetic) they were as dirty as the rest of them and not from being in their organic gardens all day.
I was a victim of discrimination myself so get sensitive about it even if shown too something/one I despise... I value respect, even if they don't show it.

Auckland is business center, Wellington is political.

Well, some people need that kind of tough love.
Say whatever you need to get through their thick heads.

Only the truly twisted would politicise a global pandemic.
But a true government will step up and do what is needed to protect it's people and it's economy.
Sometimes we all have to be smacked in the face with reality, because pandemics don't play politics.

Ain't that the truth.
