With some word finally being given as to who our next entry into the Smash Bros. fray is, I feel it's time for me to do a little something. Just a personal project I've been working on when I have a free moment here and there. I'll admit that I had initially scrapped this idea because my opinion on Byleth's inclusion was... less then pleasant and I didn't want to get my hopes up all over again just to have them be dashed but time heals all wounds I guess. Okay, actually it's because I had already drawn half of these and I did want a lot of work to go unseen.
So I believe the idea speaks for itself. Who would I like to see in Smash? If I was given the choice over the final 6 entries (I guess 5 now technically, but we'll just have 6 for the sake of things) who would I pick? It's a tough choice... sure there's plenty I'd enjoy seeing but that doesn't necessarily mean they're my top choices, or others sound fun on paper but would end up just being really boring in execution; for example, Travis Touchdown of No More Heroes is one I'd love to see, but I omitted because his fighting style is less interesting then his overall character. So yes, there's a lot I'd like to see and I have a loose idea of a top 10 for myself, but ruling it down to 6 was what I had to do and I think I have a pretty fair concept of that now, so without further delay I bring you 'Aw Heck, Lemme Smash!' a series where I showcase my undoubtedly unfulfilled dreams.
Now, if unfulfilled dreams is the topic of today then who better to fit that than the ever downtrodden, Waluigi. Always the bride's maid, never the bride, he. Of course I know that getting Waluigi into Smash is mostly a meme, one that I'm fully behind as well but I do actually want to see him in. If only to just complete the Mario cast as it were. I've always felt it odd to only give Mario an evil twin but not Luigi, if Wario weren't in Smash I'd think nothing of it, but since he is, we may as well round it out with Waluigi? He is, as always, bottom tier for me though as while I would like him in, I also think that the more and more he gets snubbed and refused entry into the roster just becomes funnier and funnier and more fitting for this pathetic schlub.
Now I know there's the accepted idea that if it's an Assist Trophy they can't get in and for the most part I'm sticking to that. There are some Assist Trophies I would love to see playable, namely Shovel Knight but I didn't just want to harp on the "almosts" and "never were" in this. I kind of feel like Assist Trohpies mostly go without saying that they nearly all deserve to be legit fighters and are basically consolation prizes but I'm going to give it to Waluigi this one time if only due to the fact that he's just such a huge inside joke for me that it would make my soul happy if I got to troll the worl with him!
