Game theory time, Kyle was molested by his and Sofi's mother and he as hated her ever since and hated their father for letting it happen to him. And on their mother's deathbed she told Kyle that sofi is actually his daughter and the trauma of the incestuous molestation is what's giving him the severe personality shifts when it comes to loving Sofi. Like, he has the paternal drive to protect her from harm but at the same time he sees their mother in her and that overrides his paternal feelings with rage. Which would also explain why hes so good at hiding his true feelings and personality when in public because his wealthy family ingrained it into him that appearances are more important then anything. And since the only love his mother showed him when he was young was sexual that's how he shows it to sofi.
TL;DR Kyle isn't bad by choice, he's just to damaged to function in a healthy way.

Your theory is good ! Even if not completely right, you got some of the points . Kyle indeed had a rough relationship with his parents , but he didn't suffer the kind of abuse he inflicts on Sofi . He wasn't physically, verbally or sexually abused . But he went through a "subtle" type of neglect that, in his mind, twisted him into his obsession with Sofi and his love-hate feelings towards her . But you got one thing really right, about how his family raised him to be extremely careful about how he's seen in public and how he needs to maintain a certain image . I really love seeing others interested in their story, so I don't want to "spoil" everything, because I plan on making a comic-type post like this one to really show their family dynamics when Kyle was younger, and how Kyle perceived it ~

Guess it was (at first cus I didn't know your stuff) the domesticated nature of it, but then looking further and seeing these characters and their actual relationships, it became a whole other reason for interest. The abuse with an incestuous nature to it... Kinda... kinda whiffing at my kinks. Also, the simple yet appealing art thrown onto a page and it's still worth looking at is something I've done and enjoyed

These characters don't really have a canon future, but sometimes I think of how somethign like this would go - a future where Kyle is out of the picture for any reason and, having no family left to care for her, Victor ends up with Sofi's custody . It would be hard for both of them, but I believe they would find a very peaceful life together .
