Soul Chocolate is, in a very real way, my own broad interest in kinks given (in)tangible form. It's very much my way of playing with the idea of hypnosis and giving myself more flexibility, while also letting me have fun experimenting and combining it with other themes.
The concept for Soul Chocolate came about while trying to figure out a good way to give Chocolate Kitsune the ability to engage and interact with other characters in as many different ways as possible, without making them outright omnipotent. You'd need a pretty diverse skillset to cater for everyone's sexual and kink preferences that way. My reasoning was simple: if you have full control over someone's perception, there's no limit to what you can make them experience.
Since their creation, I've come to think of Soul Chocolate as artist surrogate, basically messing around with characters in a scene to their heart's content in a very similar way that I would with my art. As explained in the "What Am Chocolate?" comic strip, it exists entirely on the same plane as that of character's thoughts. It's not just about making its subjects supine and slack-jawed to take advantage of them, though; hypnosis and mind control can come in the form of heightening and altering the senses, and I found its design to greatly facilitate this.
Although it relies greatly on Chocolate Kitsune (and to a lesser extent Ruby) to sustain itself over longer periods of time, it can independently latch onto other marks from time to time, if only for a bit of variety.
