It is an evening around sundown in late July of 1960 on Highway 54 between Vaughn and Pastura, New Mexico.
Elias Ferret had been trying to get back home in the Arlington, Kansas area.
A bad storm is moving in, and Elias is hoping to get a ride before the storm hits.
If he is caught out in that storm, he has a Martin guitar that has been in the family for two generations.
If that guitar gets rained on, it's ruined.
However, a ruined guitar isn't the most of Elias Ferret's worries right now. He's concerned that he doesn't get struck by a bolt of lightning.
When I can get the opportunity to record a thunderstorm, I'd like to make a posting of this with the storm audio.
