Originally, I was going to make Julia a mole, but I scrapped that idea.  Thankfully, I kept her an echidna.

I removed the robotic dread and possibly robotic arm because for years, those robotic limbs served no purpose.

For attire, I decided to keep her green and black tank top.  I added a pair of black shorts to go with her yellow belt.  Although, I'm not sure if I should've made them pants instead.  Either way, I made the shorts black to match with her tank top and green boots.

Julia still wears white mittens, but now she wears Knuckles's Shovel Claws from Sonic Adventure over them.  With them, she can dig underground.

--

Due to how convoluted the expanded echidna lore is, I'm not going to write a detailed backstory for Julia the Echidna.  I'm just going to write the details you need to know about this version of Julie-Su.  And if anyone wants to adapt her backstory, feel free to ask.

Here are the guidelines:
*There is no implied incestuous relationship with Knuckles.
*There is no manipulation of the Chaotix (or other characters) in Julia's favor.

--

Luger was the previous leader of the Dark Legion.  He had three children.  First the twins Kragok and Lien-Da, who were birthed by Merin-Da.  And the last child was Julie-Su, who was birthed by Mari-Su.

Merin-Da and Mari-Su were both members of the Nocturnus Clan.  Merin-Da married Luger as part of the alliance with the Dark Legion.  Afterwards, Mari-Su married Luger to continue the alliance.

However, not everyone in the Dark Legion enjoyed the alliance.  Kragok and his followers hated being looked down on by the Nocturnus Clan.

Eventually, Luger would be assassinated by the Zoah.  With his father gone, Kragok took command of the Dark Legion and declared their alliance with the Nocturnus Clan was over.

After the events of "Endgame," the Dark Legion returned to Mobius.  In the middle of the confusion, Julia left the Nocturnus Clan and joined the Chaotix, now going by the name "Julia the Echidna."

After the echidnas were banished to the Twilight Cage by Thrash the Tasmanian Devil, she rejoined the Nocturnus Clan and worked directly under Shade the Echidna.  After that, the events of "Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood" were adapted.

In the middle of the Nocturnus Clan's invasion of Earth, they managed to subdue Dr. Finitevus and stole his Warp Ring technology.  And somewhere down the line, Julia stole one of his Warp Rings, super-charged it with the Master Emerald, and moved onto a different reality...

Honestly, I really prefer this design more than the original. Those shovel claws make her look like a bad ass instead of that gun and her dread hair being regular is nicer instead of those robotic dreads. I like how she’s wearing shorts with that belt. It just works a lot better that way instead of just wearing a belt. Also, I like how you included Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood in her backstory. Outstanding buddy!

Thank you!

Yeah, I wanted to make a version of Julie-Su, who was more than just a "female Knuckles with a gun".  And a lot of her original design just seemed... out of place.

The tank top and boots were fine.  Mittens seem standard for echidnas.  But Julie-Su and Lien-Da having robotic dreads just seemed... pointless.

The belt stood out, but served no purpose.  So, I just made it a design to go with a pair of shorts.  Although, I'm still speculating if  I should've given her pants instead.

As for "Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood," I wanted the Nocturnus Clan to be a natural part of her history and potential growth as a character.

I think this is a really neat design. My only qualm is that now you can't have that ridiculous panel of her using her cybo-dread as a mini satellite.

As the years went by, I found the robotic dreadlocks on echidnas pointless.  That's why I omitted them from my redesigns.  It was in Archie's late run when they were finally given a purpose.

Far better design than the original.  And a helluva lot better design that what Ken Penders uses for her now.

Thanks.  And yeah, no one need to reminds of those nightmarish creatures.
