For those wondering, Sir Ector was born in 1280 and was a knight. He's still kicking around. That's a replica of his sword. Guess how he died?

Is he a dullahan, perchance?
Just curious.

Cool idea, but no, he is not. He was killed by another knight who caught him in a romantic interlude. Ghosts, in the setting he was made for, can learn to be solid and seem alive, but they retain the appearance they had at the time of death, except for visible open wounds. Having been beheaded, his is removable at will.

A well-dressed and modern take on the classic Headless Knight trope.
