Ion's father, Ivan-Yggdrasil was the first born son of a knight who founded the city and the small country of Norland where he was born. While his younger brother was raised to follow what he wanted to do, Ivan was raised to one day to take over for his father and continue to lead Norland while he never showed interest in doing so. From a young age he was taught to fight and how to be a knight but seamed never to grasp even the basic aspects of it. However this was just a ploy by Ivan who discovered he had a natural ability with swords and would train in secrete so someday he could run off on his own and fend for himself. He took an interest in the medical field and eventually told his father he wanted to study to become a doctor. His father not knowing what to do with him, agreed to let him have this little bit of freedom as the experience might help him in leading the country one day, but made him promise to return when he is called upon to lead Norland. Ivan jumped at this chance and agreed to the conditions as he went off to med school and paid for it by doing small private mercenary contracts, ones too small for the Hunters but he made sure to stay out of their way. While not being the best student, he passed all of his classes and got his degree, where he moved to a small coastal town and set up a small medical practice. He started to gain some popularity as he started incorporating his natural lightning ability into his medicine process, creating new and initiative way to help the people of his community. One day after closing up shop, he heard some rustling from an alley nearby and when he went to check it out, he found an injured lady stumbling down the walkway, severely bleeding, leaving a trail of blood behind her. He when over to help her where she collapsed in his arms. Knowing time was the essence, he quickly carried her back to his practice and laid her down on one of his examination tables. He gave her a quick examination and realized she had been shot in the side of her gut. Thinking quickly he grabbed a scalpel and some large tweezers, as he want to get the bullet out of her as quickly as possible. She started to wake up and he told her to take deep breaths and he made a small incision in her side and attempted to remove the bullet. She screamed out in pain as he was able find, grab and pull out the bullet with the tweezers. Starting to bleed out more as there was noting holding back the blood, the woman passed out again, as Ivan cleaned and stitched up her wounds. Getting her stable he left her to rest for the night and returned in the morning to bring her something to eat. She thanked him and tried to get up but fell to the floor in her weakened state. Ivan helper her back to the bed and told her to relax as when he examined the bullet he removed from her, he found out it was poison coated, and it would take some time for her body to fully dispel it. He let her rest for the next few days, while getting to know her better as she finally revealed that her name was Freya. Starting to get some feeling for her, Ivan offered her a chance to do something else with her life as he offered her a nurse/caretaker position in his small medical practice. Freya agreed and during the next year they bonded and got even closer to each other. Ivan eventually revived terrible news that his mother had fallen ill and she had not long to live. He returned with Freya to be by his mother's side for her final moments before she passed away. After the funeral, Ivan's father told him that he no longer oversee the prosperity of Norland and handed the crown to him. Ivan knowing it was his responsibility accepted and during the transition period, he proposed to Freya as she was his love and she was pregnant with their child, as they were married in a small ceremony, where Freya would take on the name Ionia-Yggdrasil. His son Ion was born a few months after just before Ivan's father fully passed down the crown to him which filled his heart with some joy as he could see a bright future for Norland. Ivan although knowing he would have to raise Ion to one day take over Norland as well, he wanted to be different from his father and give Ion more choices in life. While he was hard on him at time, he always made sure to take the time and really bond with Ion and be the father to him as the father he always wanted. While Ivan was the leader of Norland, he was known for going off and doing some mercenary contracts to get some thrills in his life as leader, even sometimes sneaking Ion along for the ride with him. While he would prefer to continue doing medical work, he still found the aspects of hunting thrilling and Ion was showing an affinity and excitement for it was well, which helped them bond more. However a tragedy struct Ionia's family and she had to leave the both of them behind for their safety. Ivan bonded even more with Ion without Ionia there to help nurture him, taking on the responsibilities of both parents. He was way less hard on Ion and nurtured him to do the things he wanted to do in life. After Ion lost one of his friends to a childhood illness, he came to him and asked if he could go out and adventure on his own to find a place in life. Ivan could only smile and place a hand on his son's shoulder and told him to do what his heart desires. Ivan latter had a private meeting with one of Ion's friends Zephyr, who was going with Ion on his adventure, where he gave him the title of Knight and asked to watch over Ion for him. Zephyr who had a deep friendship with Ion and excited with becoming a "knight" wholeheartedly agreed that nothing bad would happen to Ion on his watch. After Ion left, Ivan tried to find a way to end the crown cycle, to give Ion the ability to do what he wants to do in life. He set up a elected council of members to run the country of Norland, with his family still getting some influence to keep the vision of his father alive. However not long after the council was established, Ivan disappeared to where his current location and status was unknown but there are rumblings of a innovative doctor who uses lightning in his healing techniques in a small far out Norland town.
