I pulled a little inspiration from a 1959 Cadillac drawing I did not long ago.
I made an extra copy of the Cadillac drawing, and done it up as an ambulance.
Back in the days prior to the late 1960s, most vehicles put into service as ambulances in North America were modified Cadillac automobiles (like what's shown in the drawing). There were some that were Buicks, Pontiacs, and other heavy cars...It was believed that a heavy car held the road better, which was a consideration when it came to the high speeds ambulances often had to go.
During the early 1960s, I don't remember ever seeing vans or trucks as ambulances in the U.S. However, there were parts of the world where Bedford and Thames vans were put into service as ambulances back in the 1950s.
On this one, the siren is not visible because it is among those emergency vehicles that had the siren mounted behind the grill.
