Christmas Eve, The Beoulve Residence
The house is dark and quiet; upstairs the kids are all in bed asleep Gabe and Sarah eager for what the following morning will bring as they dream. Downstairs Nanten and Candice sit on the couch watching the dvd of a roaring fireplace with faint Christmas carols playing on loop.
Candice: Did your family have any special traditions?
Nanten: For Christmas? No, the kids got a bunch of presents then spouses traded gifts that's all.
Candice: Well I guess it wasn't so much a tradition, but my dad used to sing a song to my mom on Christmas Eve. They'd be sitting in front of the fire place after we went to bed, most times I was asleep, but now and then I stayed awake long enough to sneak out and listen. It was the one time my dad would even sing.
She takes a sip of her cocoa and pulls the blanket at her feet over her legs.
Nanten: Do you remember any of it?
Candice thinks for a moment then starts to sing;
Candice: It must have been the mistletoe; The lazy fire, the falling snow; The magic in the frosty air, That feeling everywhere; It must have been the pretty lights, That glistened in the silent night
Nanten: Or may be just the stars so bright, That shined above you
Candice's hand comes to her mouth as she's surprised by her wolfy joining in.
Both: Our first Christmas
Candice: More than we'd be dreaming of
Nanten: Oh, Saint Nicholas had his fingers crossed
Both: That we would fall in love!
Candice: It could have been the holiday; The midnight ride upon sleigh; The countryside all dressed in white; That crazy snowball fight!
Nanten: It could have been the steeple bell; That wrapped us up in its spell;
Candice: It only took one kiss to know
Both: It must have been the mistletoe!
The pair trail off as they lean in closer sharing a kiss, Nanten places his arm around Candice and pulls her closer causing the blanket to slip out of place. As they break away she snuggles close to him resting her head just under his chin.
candice: I didn't know you could sing that well.
Nanten: Well I need to keep a few surprises tucked away.
His hand slips up from her waist and comes to a rest on her shoulder as he looks at the tv. The two remain in joyful silence for a moment before Candice turns and give his neck a light peck.
Candice: I love you, wolfy.
Nanten: Love you too, hunbun.
He says as he pulls her even closer and rests his other hand on hers.
