I think they're best friends at least. I can see the latter help the former be more open on her girly-girl side and be more balanced, heck Apple Bloom does it well being a girly-girl one moment and a tomboy the next!
Even though I doubt it'll be frilly I think Smoulder's EQG outfit would be either girly but with tomboy trimmings or tomboy with girly trimmings, or more likely in between, Ocellus' would be super girly though! Their uniforms would be the same, just with sneakers I guess.

Thinking the same thing! I could see Ocellus make some moves on Smoulder who'd be a bit gruff and stiff by nature (not a dick joke) and also taken away by the advance and her having the confidence too do so.
