Headstand buddies! by ButterscotchLollipop

---

I was stuck at a gymnastics place cuz of my sister. There wasn’t anything to do. I was bored out of my mind and wasn't able to bring any books or my gameboy to entertain me.

I was around a bunch of moms and they were really chatty. I couldn't really focus on my own thoughts, so I snuck away to find a quiet place.

During my search, out of the corner of my eye, I spotted a fluffy tail.

She sat on the low, long wooden benches that didn't have backs. There was a mirror, so I was able to see her from where I was. Skoonken, like me, but her fur had shades of gray. She looked kinda like a little rain-cloud. She wore a yellow-orange shirt with little purple butterflies on it, pink leggings, and mismatched socks: orange on one foot, and light-and-dark blue stripes on the other. The brush in her hand sifted through her sandy-blonde locks.

Norville started to wriggle. "Stop it," I growled at him.

"Hm?" Her eyes flit open, and the fur on my back bristled when she caught mine in the reflection. Then, she turned over her shoulder to look at the real me.

"Sorry," I muttered, holding one arm with the other. "I was just looking for a quiet place."

She smiled, gathering some tresses of hair in her fingers. "I'ss quiet here, leas’ for now," she told me.

I wandered into the room, and went one bench over from the last, and sat on the very end. I faced away from her, but at a right-angle. If I glanced to my right, I could still catch her reflection in the mirror. But, when I did, I caught her looking at my reflection and quickly looked ahead.

I heard a tapping of plastic against wood. "You can sit here," she offered, "I don' have cooties'r'nothin'." This time I turned my head to look at her in the mirror.

She tapped the spot on the bench next to her with the head of her brush.

Norville started wiggling again. I got up to try and keep him from being noticeable, and approached the seat she offered. I plopped down. "Uhm... My name's Lemmy," I said.

"I’s Lolly," she said, leaning over to a duffel bag that was on the floor in front of her, putting the brush away. “I’ss what everyone calls me.”

"Cool," I blurted, only seeing after how odd of a response that was, to what she said. "I mean, nice to meet you," I corrected.

A giggle slipped out of her.

"Uh... Hey, wanna see something cool?" I asked.

"Umm, okay," she said with a shrug.

It wasn't quite the response I was looking for. I paused for just a second, but she was looking at me expectantly, now. I gathered my nerves while I slipped off my shoes, and stood up.

There was enough space between the bench and the mirrors. I took a step back, and sort of rolled my arms a little bit. I squatted, and laid my palms on the ground in front of me. I shifted my weight forward, and pushed off with my feet. Norville lifted into the air, and with that my handstand was complete.

She smiled, giving another giggle.

"I can walk around, too, see?" I demonstrated, taking a few "steps" back, and then forward, and even strafing to the side away from her. "Pretty neat, huh?"

"Handstan’ buddies!" She squealed.

"Huh?" I muttered, while she hopped off the seat.

She got into a similar position as I did, but for her it was much more graceful. Whereas I pushed off, she sort of rolled up smoothly. Her legs didn't even point up, they just stayed next to her, feet just by her shoulders. Then, her left hand also left the ground, and she raised her left foot up just a bit with it. "Tah-dah!" She announced.

"Buh... But thought... Only spotted..."

"Hmm?" Her hand and leg lowered back down. "Wha'ss wrong?" She asked, "walking" toward me.

Suddenly, her nose booped mine.

Norville flopped down first, and I went crumpling after.

"Oh gosh, I's s’ sorry!" She said quickly, now kneeling in front of me. "Are you all right?"

"Heh, yeah I'm all right," I replied, even while a dull pain still pulsed from my knee. I quickly scrambled to my feet, and started to back away.

"Where ya goin’?" She asked.

"I-I-I just gotta go potty," I feigned, before turning and scurrying away, trying not to let any favoring of my aching knee show.

"Hey, wait!" She called, but I kept going. Norville wanted me to heed her, but the twists in my stomach only loosened with every step away. I shuffled through hallways and past doors, looking all about.

Then, I came to a dead-end.

I heard socked footsteps behind me. When I turned, she was there.

She trotted up to me, and grasped my hand. "C'mon," she said with a gentle tug, "potty's this way."
