You actually kind of touch on a problem here that a lot of furry writers deal with as well, and that's whether it's a setting that's basically 'the real world, but anthros instead of people,' whether there are also humans, whether there's any specific reason for one or the other, or if they just co-exist and nobody questions it. There are debates over which one is better, and of course some writers are better at doing it one way or another.
Unfortunately, I don't have any insight to add other than sometimes you just have to go with what feels right to you and what feels right for the story, but if it helps you feel any better you're not alone in questioning this sort of thing.

Inspiration is funny like that. You aren’t looking for the idea, it just falls right on your imagination and you just feel this URGE to tell it. Even when it goes against your usual grain. Thing is, if IB has prohibitions on the character species, Pixiv and other social media have heavy-handed censorship, private hosting gets pricy and you can’t necessarily trust patron-funded sites, it kinda limits where you can publish it. Make no mistake, if you can find a service you like, I like your art enough to start sponsoring and I’m sure I’m not the only one. Weigh your options, don’t rush a decision, and your loyal fans will be eagerly awaiting the next announcement.

Yes! go for it! post it on E621 if you have to and then link it here. your story is intriguing this way you would be ably to "play" with pregnancy and the reality thereof Sex has consequences and while that is not a bad thing that is how life goes on, a lot of people have never experienced it with declining birth rates unlike a few generations back so it sounds like a really intense project, let the chips fall where they may, throw in some real world truth, that Adult Choices have Adult responsibilities and full steam ahead it sounds like this is where your talents are leading you. so take this as a BIG THUMBS UP FROM ME. --GF

From my view I say follow inspiration and explore it. It is in us that we have to see what comes from it. Inspiriation even from places where we might not feel as comfortable. Sometimes the stories might not fit to many people but it will get people thinking including yourself and i find any art form that allows one to question, explore, and learn from it deserves a chance to be out there. So for myself I can't wait to see what comes.
(also if needed drafting out said ideas can also help you figure things out and also understand the interconnection between things including for facets you might not understand now or agree with now. )

You' deeply impressed me with the different ways you've drawn your characters and is that image of Ragdoll inspire off the character Elle from Pocoyo... I don't have cable and watch children's shows on PBS... I think if your heart is in it you should draw whatever you want. It's your art and there will always be someone who loves it and someone who hates just don't let haters pull you under and drown you in doubt.
