yeah seeing some of the Sonic characters as DBZ type fighters would be neat as long as it didnt go that whole ever escalating to ridiculous power level stuff where people can blow up galaxies with a 50 minute powered up fart

Well for one thing throw away DBZ. Or as I name it: Draggin' Balls Zzzzzzzzzzzz... Newer DB properties have done away with all that absurd over-wrought, screentime-chewing, power-up nonsense. To be fair, the DBZ anime was trying to visualize the pacing from the manga, which is why a single-panel page of a single character's power-up roar translated to three minutes of screen time, et. al. But yeah the pacing nowadays is much more respectable to its medium.
