That last sketch was unused because his neck looked too twisted. I didn't save the rough of the sketch I did use (except in the CHI file I guess). I meant to texture the background gradient but would rather go outside and play. I did the last four pictures on the board so I'll either lay off or draw something on the other board.
It's not so hard and only uses a couple of layers, basically one for ink and another for color on top of the sketch and background layers. You could use more color layers though, 'cause I tend to overspray a little with Chickenpaint. Its almost all done with just the pen tool for lines and pencil for coloring and colored lines with 'protect transparency'. I used the bucket tool a little at first but it's easier just coloring by hand instead of cleaning up after the bucket.
The character is inspired by Rags from Crusader Rabbit, who I always thought was super cute. He looks more chonky than usual here.
