"Merry Old Santa Simic" – Inkbunny Secret Santa 2018
The Grasshopper Mouse / The Dei-Dryad Study
A pseudo-painting from several years ago featuring my characters Joe Cupid and Jill Psyche, Furry Incarnations of Love and the Soul, respectively, and based on French artist William-Adolphe Bouguereau's painting "The Abduction of Psyche" (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Psycheabduct.jpg).

As an aside, this is the first picture in which I finally gave up on trying to have the two wear clothes.  While Psyche wore hers just fine, Cupid's diaper just looked more and more ridiculous as time went on.  I now draw them (when I used to) naked in a more classic manner, though always with strategically-placed objects for censoring.

This image was also used on my parents' Valentines Day/Anniversary card for 2006.

Thank you. :) One of these days, I'd like to continue this sort of thing, assuming my whimsy will take me there.  (I already have drawings worked out for three other paintings, although I haven't gone much further than coloring one of them.)
