Yea, you hear lots of things where things like you mentioned are not considered.
Like they use to say eggs were packed with heart stopping cholesterol and bad for you...Now days they say eggs are beneficial, and that two or three each morning help you burn off weight.
I have been seeing advice that breakfast should be a big meal, lunch a moderate meal, and supper being lite...Which makes sense being that morning is the start of the day, and evening is getting close to bed time.
I always hear, "Chocolate makes you fat!"...When actually it's the white sugar they use that makes you fat, and a 90% or more cacoa in dark chocolate has beneficial values.
Everyone agrees that fish is good for you and has Omega 3...But only if it's wild caught. Farm raised fish is corn fed and even poses a risk of cancer.
I saw a really goofy video on a "healthy diet". They suggested, "Day 1. For breakfast. One ounce of fish. One piece of toast, with two teaspoons of peanut butter...And green tea or water". Then, "For lunch. Two ounces of tofu. Three ounces of string beans. Half a cup of yogurt...And water". Then for supper, they said, "And supper. One ounce of fish. One or two ounces of yellow squash. Half a cup of cottage cheese...And water. Then day 2, "Day two. Breakfast. One egg, scrambled, and don't use milk. Milk is bad for you. And one piece of toast...And green tea or water". They even claimed fruit and fruit juice was bad, sighting it "contains evil natural fattening sugars".
It think that video was more done as a cruel joke than it being done in the interest of good health.

Another food supposedly good for weight loss but many do not like it is grapefruit juice.
As for me, I like ruby red grapefruit juice a lot...especially fresh squeezed from the grapefruits I get from the roadside stands. A gallon of it with me wouldn't last for more than two days.

Just check the ingredients. You want pure juice, not sweetened.
I fortunately like grapefruit juice. Got attached to it in college when I was told to drink it when I had a really bad cold. It cut through EVERYTHING, and I've been hooked on it ever since.
