Tails was excited for the upcoming week. Everything had been set in place. He was the master at a dojo, he officially followed in Sonic's footsteps and took up babysitting (this time with children who weren't monsters), and was about to be given his very own office at the new Science Convention Center for kids of all ages. It was the perfect recipe for comfort and proper career advancement. Nothing was going to rain on his parade.
It was a Wednesday night and Tails was punching forward in his karate gi, demonstrating for all the kids the moves he knew. His uniforms came with their own little twin tailed fox symbols to identify which dojo they were from. He wasn't officially recognized as anything more than a cheap dojo you typically see sitting beside the Mexican Restaurant or anything but it was still neat to see that Tails, being a kid himself, had ran and fought with the best and was willing to impart some knowledge about what he knew to an even younger generation. He had to keep himself active in different things. It was very important.
His students watched in awe as he demonstrated his fast punches. They were all 3 to 4 years younger than him so it was easy for them to have a lot of admiration for a bigger kid who knew karate. One kid in particular, was a 5 year old chipmunk named Cobalt.
Cobalt was probably Tails' most excited and happy-go-lucky student. Tails hadn't worked out who the best among his group was just yet but he knew this boy was definitely the most into it.
With a smile on his face, Tails turned to Cobalt and pointed at him. Tails closed his eyes and rubbed his other finger under his nose, looking smug and confident. "And THAT'S how you pull off a proper jab."
Cobalt eyes lit up with stars and sparkles. He clapped his hands with reverence. "Oh wow~! You're so cool Master Miles!"
"Yes, I know." Tails certainly wasn't going to disagree with what he said. He had a black belt around his waist after all. "Now, I'm going to give you the chance to replicate my moves... against ME!"
The kids all gasped. Cobalt pointed to himself, suddenly very nervous and sweaty. "M-M-Me, Master? B-But I-!"
"Won't get very far if you don't try." Tails finished for him. "I know facing down a master is scary but the time has come for us to advance. In order to do that, you'll need to face me. Of course, you won't get the proper speed and timing of the jab down on your first try but that's what training is for."
Cobalt felt a spark of confidence well up within him. Steam even shot from his nostrils. The master was right! He wouldn't get far if he refused him.
Cobalt began to stretch to his toes before following that up with a stretch above his head. He then approached Tails and bowed. "Alright Master. I'm coming at you with everything I've got!"
"Sure thing." Tails responded, fists on his hips and looking positively full of snark. He had to admit, it felt great having one of these kids admire him so. "You may begin! Try and nab me!" The fox got ready and ducked back when Cobalt shot at him. Tails kept his smirk on as Cobalt kept his jabbing motions coming.
The fox ducked, bobbed, and weaved around them all before coming to a stop. "Haha. Come on Cobalt. You're being a little too ambitious with where you're aiming."
Cobalt panted a bit, hands resting on his knees.
"Ah yes. Now here's the real lesson I wished to teach you today." Tails grinned, reaching maximum snark capacity. "You're too sloppy. When facing a master, it's best to realize when there's nothing you can d-!"
Tails' pants hit the floor, exposing his light blue Spider-Man briefs to all the kids in the dojo...!
"-DUUUUUUUUUUUHHH~!" Tails' eyes bug out and he looks down with abject shock and terror as his pants pooled around his ankles. His face is immediately overcome with a harsh red blush and sweat begins to form on him as well.
Cobalt raises Tails' black belt into the air while facing the other kids. "YEAH! I DID IT!"
The group of kids all clap and a few of them laugh. They weren't going to sugarcoat it, that was kind of hilarious... and also a little embarrassing.
Tails couldn't believe it. This kid had so easily snagged his black belt off of him and he didn't even notice it. He had succeeded in copying the speed of his jab simply by looking at him do it!
Tails stood there, feeling like a dope with his pants down. His eye twitched a bit and he chuckled a little. "E-Excellent w-work Cobalt... y-your master is impressed... I uh... h-how about we... uh... HEY! I got it! Let's have a match!"
He had to save his dignity. He knew just how he was going to do it too.

Or he's bad at knots and it was so loose it basically came off with the slightest tug. It's won't surprise me, he's more of a military CQC fighter who fights bare knuckle blood-n-guts and here he is trying too sell something too the kids of soccer moms that isn't broken bones, blood lose and disfigurement. Real combat is not the stuff for kids and if he really taught them too fight there'd be no bullies but half the school in court!
