The Mummy's Curse: Desert Denouement
'Omigoddess!', Jessie exclaimed to her freaked out wife. 'She was REALLY here! My dream was real! Look at that dagger. It's the exact one I saw in my dream, vision or whatever it was.'

'Tell me again just what you saw or dreamed, Jess. This.....this is almost too much to believe, yet here it is!', Liane stuttered out.

"Well, it started out when I heard footsteps coming near our bed', Jessamine began. " I seemed to wake up, and saw this mummy that looked exactly like me, if I was a thousand years old and all wrapped up in gauze. But her face was mine. Exactly! And she was holding this dagger, the one in the table here, up in the air like she was going to stab me. She had this horrible, evil smile and her eyes...oh, her eyes......they were glowing in the dark as she glared down at me. Then suddenly her smile grew even larger, and she lowered the dagger down by her side and bent over me, putting her face just inches from my own. Oh, Liane! She smelled of death and rot, but she was alive!! Anyway, she stared into my eyes, and I don't know if I was hypnotized or what, but I couldn't move a muscle. Not even breathe it seemed. After a few moments she.....she leaned closer yet and...and, oh Liane......she kissed my lips with her dry ones. Just a quick peck really, and then she straightened back up and her voice came to me. She was speaking a language foreign to me, yet somehow the meaning was clear in my mind. I'll never to my dying day forget what she said, word for word! She said ''I come to kill those who desecrated my resting place. But there you are, sleeping next to your rabbit slave who woke me with her fumbling about my sarcophagus. And you! I recognize you! How it can be I don't know, but you are my heir....my descendant. I had but one child. A girl. And you appear just as she did at the time of my death. Though you and your slave are responsible for waking me when it should never have happened, I cannot kill you. You may be the last of my line. Royalty...for I was Queen you know. Queen Jessa Ho-Tep. And I ruled all of Egypt and even beyond. I will even spare your rabbit slave, as she must be dear to you to be sleeping in the same bed as you. Now you must take my dagger. It is the symbol of my rule. Keep it forever, and keep it close! Someday it may save your life as it did mine, oh so many times, when evil ones tried to usurp my rule. I leave it here for you to find when you rise in the morning. I go now, back to my rest. Please, daughter of royalty, see that I am never again disturbed, for I desire only to rest, and I will rest peacefully knowing that my line lives on.''
Jessamine hesitated, then 'She did say one more thing, Liane, but maybe you don't want to hear it.'

'Of course I want to hear it, Jessie! Tell me!', Liane said, wondering what it could possibly be that her wife thought she might not want to hear. 'I've already heard that the mummy thought I'm Jessamine's slave, what could be more humiliating than that', she thought.

'Well, all right, love, but please don't be mad! She told me to keep a close eye on you and be ready to kill you at any time, because slaves...especially rabbit slaves....are extremely treacherous, and not to be trusted. That's a pretty heavy thing to say, even though we both know it's total bullshit, and you aren't my slave anyway.'

Liane giggles then. 'Ha ha......you thought I'd be angry? I think it's funny because it's half true. I AM your slave. Your love slave, that is. And you never know when I might pounce you and nibble and tickle you half to death! That mummy wasn't quite on the mark, but she must have known a few rabbit slaves in her time. Grab your dagger, my love, and let's go out to the dig and see about setting things to rights there. We should put it all back just as we found it, don't you think?'

Jessie agreed, and after removing the dagger from the table and securing it to her waist, they had a light breakfast of granola bars and juice. Then, when Liane was outfitted with her hat and whip, they began the trek out to the dig to see what needed to be done in order to restore it to it's original condition, or as close to it as possible.

Another wonderful gift from my wonderful bunny friend rabbitfangs who wrote the story and who owns the beautiful Liane Rabbitfangs
