This is my honest-to-god reaction to the designs. Please, don't take it out on me.
I'm serious when I said I thought the 2019 movie design wasn't bad at all (and I don't expect anything to be perfect). And, I think this, to my own extent, is a fair comparison. There will be people out there to tell me that 2013 is way better. I honestly disagree, because that made me cringe so hard, especially since the movements were so bad, and that I have to hear Jaleel White voicing him again. I'm not the biggest fan of his voice acting, despite having to like Sonic SatAM and Underground (and him voicing Sonia was just the worse idea since me voicing female characters in my own movies). He's not a bad guy, and I like him (especially as Steve Urkel). The 2013 fan film never really impressed me, considering that it was the only thing close to a live-action adaptation of Sonic we could have.
But, then 2019 comes along, and this "controversial" design for Sonic comes alongside. I like this design more and more when I watch the trailer, aside from a few shots I think they could fix up during post-production before release. Guys, I really would love to favor your artwork, if I could stop hearing how much ya' hate this. Seriously, I've found some pretty pitiful comments at this point. And, since I was making this comparison meme, I wanted to use my favorite shot of Sonic in the car with Tom, James Marsden's character.
I'm not delusional, or crazy, it's just what I personally think. If you think 2013's design looks better, that's okay. If you think 2019's better (despite it being changed again by demanding whiners), that's okay too. I don't care what anyone says at this point, but I like 2019's design much better than the unpleasant 2013 fan film design.
Also, I had fun making the expressions of myself as a mobian, and I plan on doing more if I have to. I needed to get this off my chest, because holding this in is just dumb. About as dumb as the chaos going on over the 2019 film. I just wish everybody was civil about it, instead of Paramount listening to the toxic side.
Hmmm... Well, when i watched the 2013 fan movie, I just watched it as a film, When i see the Sonic 2019 movie design, i have to agree with most of the people who are just not agreeing that Sonic in the trailer is not him, even tho Paramount wants him to be looking realistic, but the problem is: Sonic is a cartoon video game character who is simple and iconic, put him in a realistic setting and change him into what we see in the trailer is gonna make people and kids having nightmares and not gonna watch the movie, But surprisingly, some people will watch it, I myself will go and watch it if i got time when the movie is coming out in November.

Yeah. And, I'm fine with people not liking the design as much as I do, but it's just blatant exaggeration and overreaction is all I here, instead of honest when it comes to Sonic.
*That's not to say my reaction to the 2013 fan film design is an overreaction. That's just how I feel more and more after I saw it the first time.*

I'm honestly glad paramount will be changing the design for Sonic..the realism is just too creepy for a lot of us..especially those human teeth- 2013 fanfilm's Sonic at least looked like Sonic, besides, t'was a fanfilm made by a group of people, not a company so obviously the animations will be wonky, everyone starts from somewhere after all but still, it felt more like Sonic to me than the 2019 version. Realism can be nice but too much realism can be disturbing to a lot of people, especially when it comes to cartoony characters. I respect your opinion, I'm just stating out some points :v

You have a point about that part on the fan film, yet I've seen better fluency with people doing animations with Source Filmmaker. So, I had no idea what was it that they used for the animations. It's just that it bugs me, and that's just me, especially being used to Sonic looking more anthro-like. Also, I'd like some evolution with Sonic, so I really don't see why we would need to have the same style for Sonic while redesigning him. It kinda takes aways the slight originality the film would have. :T

Some people have liked seeing Sonic evolve from classic up to his boom design but TBH it was mainly the anthro design, majority of us don't like it or aren't into it :v Different 3D programs work and animate differently, animations made with source filmmaker aren't the same as animations with MMD, some are harder to animate with, some are easier. And about Sonic X...well a lot of people forgot it existed..but in all honestly the realism is what freaked us out meaning they look like real human teeth were stuck into his mouth unlike the cartoon one which is less wierd-

I'm rather glad that paramount is changing the design for the model, because even though it's "okay" it can still be more better and not to mention that with Hollywood now these days have an addition to make things "realistic" as in turning things animated into a reality. Like you can have the "real" Sonic of the movie keep the textures and graphics, that I honestly don't mind. But the model itself it definitely needed a change especially in the facial area. More than likely people got set off by the model is the eyes.
