Kiara entered her room. The teenage serval girl looked around, excited. Soon, her room would be redecorated to no longer look like a small kitten's room.
She looked over the shelves filled with the toys she had held dear when she was little. Many of them were a bit dusty and had not been touched in a long time.
Then her eyes fell upon her old music box.
"Well, I haven't played with you in a while. Let's see if you can still do your tricks."
She turned the crank twice, and then spoke to it. When she was a little kitten, there had been nothing unusual about a magical music box that could play any song you told it to play. But when you get older, you normally learn that magic does not exist.
Only ... that belief is a little hard to maintain if you have a magic box on your shelf, ready to play with every day.
"Give me something that sounds like Enya."
And in order to make it a little more difficult for the fairy or whatever it was that drove the box, she added,
"But I want a song that noone has ever heard before!"
With that she opened the lid, and a moment later the music began.
What Kiara had forgotten in the two years she hadn't touched the box was that the music box could not produce any vocals. But it still had a few tricks up its sleeve.
In Kiara's mind, a melody materialized. It was just suddenly there, and she felt utterly compelled to sing it.
Sometimes lonely, sometimes waiting, we may never know.
We walk along a moonlit path, wherever it may go.
Ever shifting, ever flowing, wondrous paths we choose,
at every fork a side we pick, and ask us what we'll lose.
Walk my path without you, wondering what to do, every road I follow, may lead me to you.
In the darkness of the shadows wonders may be found,
they will sparkle in the moonlight when it comes around.
Straying from the beaten path can give your heart a fright,
find the courage within you and bring them out to light.
Walk my path without you, wondering what to do, every road I follow, may lead me to you.
Walk my path without you, wondering what to do, every road I follow, I will walk with you!
