It's a security function due to some piracy and fraud concerns. However, after a period of time as a patron we've been letting people move further up the release order by a couple months at a time.
This project has also been running for a long time and with some of the security issues and payment security we have to move carefully - the last time we had a big leak we lost a significant percentage of our paying audience and it took a long time to get to 25+ pages a month and we're honestly pretty paranoid of losing that momentum for some of the fans who've been with us before it went to patreon-only after the harassment and leaks, and before the last major hit that caused the timewall security - the best we can say, and always have said, is our commitments are too our patrons and the sooner people join up, the less of these hurdles there are
