I try my best not to ghost people, especially ones i tend to admire a lot. My own shyness tends to be the biggest road block, mostly in my head thinking "Eh... they have better things to do and better people to talk to besides me bothering them with a hi/how is/hows the weather small talk cause i dont have much interesting to share."

And I've had it done to me plenty, promises of art or more time spent together that ends up going nowhere, and it sucks. It sucks a lot. And i do apologize if i ever inadvertently or otherwise did that to you or anyone else

I've never actually ordered a commission, but I wouldn't schmooze up to an artist about it unless I had the money set aside and was serious. I love your work. You are very talented. Anyone who ghosts you just isn't worth the time to think about. *hugs*

I can understand if something comes up and its beyond your control so you can't afford it or you forgot. I've been hit with this "I'd love to get some art from you later," or "I'll definitely do something with you later once I get the chance," line a lot and I've learned to just not to put any enthusiasm behind it. Some people have actually admitted that they said it to be nice. Thoughts of the compliment can be appreciated but it's not "nice" when you add possible business being done. If anything it makes you look like a jerk and can make you look/seem insincere.

its not only the business, They make you believe you are worth the attention, then they get art with a mayor dozen other people, making it particularly sure, not only are you not worthy of the same attention, if you were, you are all the way to the bottom of the list, The friends i have know this, the friends i have only say this when theya re sure it will be done at some point, and its not just a miserably shallow attempt at "romancing the whore".

Fuck.. treat me like a business, like service, liek the expending machine, But dont give me this crap, dont insult my emotional integrity like this....

I've felt the opposite experience, I was close with people unrelated to their art and they just turned on me. Now I find it necessary to see the fandom as a business. Simply the way of things

I always want to get art for my friends but I usually want it to be a surprise? But then I never know what to get.
Though if they ask for something, I readily pay for it, not that it happens too often.

I've never had this happen to me. Then again, I only do ych and once in a blue moon get someone who pm's me to ask if I'd like to be in a pic with them. I'm pretty jealous of people who get tons of art from various artists though. Seeing your character drawn in many different styles has to be the tits. X3

Anyone who does this to you should never be allowed to see anything you draw ever again.... Ever.

On more personal note - Bastion is the first artist in Furdom i have commissioned from and i feels so grateful that my idea was accepted enthusiastically; people who abuse the process of artists putting themselves out there for patronage are lowest of the low, imo
