The list was done on what needed to be changed and what furniture was to be ordered, along with the paints and carpeting, the beds and possible spare beds were to be added. Raphael took out his mobile phone and began placing orders to the items he required along with having disposal men take care of the old items in the house, the disposal men were to arrive first on the scene as they began their work, loading all the items and carpeting into their disposal truck. A matter of hours later the house was completely bare, the only room left to be taken care of was the attic, luckily for Raphael, they were experienced in rusty old locks, a struck screwdriver in the keyhole later and the attic door was open.
Mike was the first on the scene to watch how they had opened the door, taking it to memory just in case he was ever kidnapped and placed in a locked room, he now knew to conceal a screwdriver and anything with it to give a hefty whack would easily unlock the door to his escape. Hesitantly he followed the men into the attic and glanced around, it was just an ordinary room for reading, painting, or simply wanting peace and quiet. There were two arm chairs, a painting easle, old dried up artist paints along with the artist brushes that looked completely stiff with dried up paint on the bristles and a few paintings, indicating that the last resident to live here must have been an artist. However, if the last resident indeed was an artist, why were the paintings appearance gave a much older look than of only being 75 years old? Was this attic never used in the prior 75 years of the last owner? It would make sense of the lock having been rusted over to the point of not working, but then...How was the room dust free with no sign of neglect? Every inch of the room, including the arm chairs looked taken care of, possibly even new, they certainly did not look very old fashioned in the least, the only items that looked worn for the years passing were the paintings.
A fairly sized german shepard dog toy in a laying position nestled itself behind one of the arm chairs, the toy looked large enough to use as a mini bed or pillow, either for relaxing on or taking a small nap against, needless to say, it looked very enticing and comfy, not to mention in mint conditon as the arm chairs were. However, the toy was highly unusual, no toy company had ever made a toy dog like this, the ears were made to look exactly like pizza slices, from the crust to the pepperoni, the body was made to look like melting cheese with pepperoni slices for markings, even the tail looked like it was dripping with melting cheese, it was as though it was made to a person's certain love of food, in this case it would seem the toy was made specifically to entice Mike by his love of pizza. To say it did not entice him would be a lie, it fully caught his attention and enticement to the fact he had completely forgotten about the eye he had seen through the keyhole only a few hours earlier.
Raphael made his way into the attic to make his repeated speech of remove everything to looking fully amazed by the condition of the room, glancing around at the scene before him, he took note of the arm chairs, there was no need to dispose of them, the carpeting looked surprisingly new, the paint he debated on changing to a more cheerful look from a dull grey orange to a possible light teal. It would certainly brighten the room up immensly, instead of having the men dispose of the furniture and carpet, he instructed them to remove the door and only the easle, paintings and the tools to paint to be disposed of. Soon his eyes locked onto Mike sitting on the floor, leaning against the unusually designed toy dog, seeing how happy the toy was making Mike feel, he decided to leave well alone and not question the appearance and leave Mike to the toy, if it would make him feel more comfortable in the move to this new home then who was he to take that away from him.
As instructed, the disposal men removed all the old doors, including the back and front door of the house, loading them onto the back of the truck as Raphael paid one of the disposal men before they left the area. Walking back in to the now empty house, luckily the wood flooring was still in a sturdy condition as it was when first built, possibly for many more years to come. As the hour passed, Raphael's order for fitted carpets soon arrived, the men worked continuosly on their work, half the men worked on the upstairs carpets for the corridor and rooms, while the men downstairs worked with the living area carpet, drawing room carpet and the hallway. Generously, Raphael made teas and coffees for the men as they took a few minute breaks before they would continue with the other rooms. Within four hours, the work was done and dusted along with another payment by Raphael, the men packed up their carpet fitting tool and went along their way in their van, all that was left to arrive now was the furniture, beds, doors and the paints. Surprisingly, Raphael was making great time on his and Mike's new home, for now it was time to chow down on some lunch, a good thing for the wallet, Raphael had made some prior to their trip, healthy turkey salad sandwiches on multigrain bread.
Soon the clock chimmed, indicating it was now 2pm and as told, the furniture men arrived with the new instalments to the house, wasting no time, they got to work on placing the new furniture in the areas Raphael instructed, along with taking the bed frames and mattresses to the designated rooms. Once all was done, they attended to installing the new doors, giving Raphael the keys to the front and back doors along with a new skeleton key for the other ones should he need it if Mike had guests over and he didn't want them going in to certain rooms of the house. Finally done, he paid for their service and received a call from the pain store that his delivery would arrive tommorrow morning due to the paint he requested was still in preperation of mixing the colours to his specific requests, all that was left to do now was enroll Mike in his new school and they would spend the remaining day at rest and relaxation for the paintwork they will do in the morning as soon as the delievery would come, all in all it was a pretty good start to the day.
