Karma was often something that befell people who were well and truly asking for it. Mean people who treated people like crap. That kind of thing. However, Donovan wasn't really one of those people. He was generally a really nice dude. He liked the company of other people, was relatively easy going, and a partier when, if ever, he got invited to parties. He certainly had never bullied anyone. That said, there was a layer of cockiness to him that rose to the forefront every once in a while and it was usually when he was ahead of someone in something.
Donovan never found himself ahead of anyone so it was a rare instance. However, when he did, his mind would switch to "I'M WINNING" mode and he'd feel his heart beat faster with a sense of glowing accomplishment, earned or not. That caused him to act insufferably cocky and it's what drove him towards making comments about Rolland's performance here.
He laid it on thick with each punch. "Yeah man! I'm totally owning it here! Whoo~!"
He wasn't that good at smack talk either, by the by.
Still, it did it's job in making Rolland a bit peterped. Eventually, the slightly dazed husky had enough. With a stamp of his foot, Rolland found himself swinging under Donovan and shooting upward for a punch so powerful you could hear the meat inside the raccoon rattle a bit when it connected.
THOOOM! It was the sound of thunder going off when Rolland's very first hit connected.
"OOOOF!" Donovan gasped, instantly feeling his body shudder with intense pain. His head was in the clouds suddenly.
Donovan was suspended above him, eyes crossed and making a pained pursed lips face as spittle flew from his mouth.
Even worse, the force of the hit got his shorts to sag.
That rare feeling of being ahead had disappeared with a single punch. --
