Whose Tumblr has been lost to oblivion, so I've lost track of him unfortunately.

I this piece I've combined my love of Adventure Time and Hinduism with Finn the Human contemplating the Hero-Gods of old.

Finn is a hero, both in his own mind and to the people who know him. Finn has always striven to do his best and abide by his morale code, but while his obstacles have been mostly physical, ethical conundrums haven’t always been evaded. So the question is asked, what is a hero really? And what type of hero is Finn?

First Finn imagines himself as Parashurama, the sixth avatar of Vishnu. Parashurama is the greatest warrior, famed for having traveled the world several times over, each time ridding it of the evil warrior caste who had come to abuse their position. In him Finn sees his complete intolerance of evil and his inclination toward (effective and necessary) violent solutions.

In the middle Finn sees himself as Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu. Rama is known as Order and Morality Incarnate, the perfect king and human whom inspires everyone to be better. In him Finn sees his love of righteous actions and just civilizations that refrain from easier paths filled with wrong-teous deeds.

Finally Finn sees himself as Krishna, the eighth avatar of Vishnu. While Krishna is also a virtuous king, he is famous for his irresistible charm and enlightening people to a love of life in and of itself. Much focus is put on his days a child cow-herder, prone to pranks and falling in love. In him Finn sees his love for the detached care-free life style and urge to live life to its fullest

.

Ultimately Finn fails to live up completely to any one of them but is not totally bereft of any one of their particular lessons. When one upholds the law, they think they are Rama. When one ignores the law, they think they are Krishna. When one does that which seems contrary, they think they are Parashurama. But just as they are all ultimately Vishnu whom appeared when needed and in the form that was needed: Finn may find the right answer for the greatest good will be clear in due time.
