Despite having a nearly infinite amount of choices, it's never hard to find a good book to pass the time. This is typically because of an AI analyzing your tastes and deciding what turns up in your search results, as attempting to merely browse overwhelms one in said choices.
Most people consider this a fair trade - In exchange for giving up control over what they see and hear, you get better search results! In fairness, Poly's never known anything different.
Really, it doesn't sound too much different than what we get in our own little world, where when you watch a video on YouTube, for example, a bunch of other, related video suggestions pop up. I'm sure that what Poly gets is probably a bit more streamlined and possibly a bit more accurate in judging an individual's tastes and interests. But I can easily see libraries and bookstores doing something similar, especially now we have all these e-books to make it easier for them.
All that being said, it's always nice to see Poly get time to relax and enjoy herself for a bit. I have to agree with
Mm, I think it's much the same as what we have now, only in Poly's universe it's been refined into an art form. I think it's the idealized form of today, though!
