i think it's weird how everyone thinks of spraying plasma from a distance but in practicality it's better to get up close and push in a more personal space.
honestly a soul disruption in an open space is way to risky to the user and people around them. Why do you think no-one uses flamethrowers anymore?
besides it's much better to tailor that energy into practical geometrics rather than spit it everywhere wastefully. although i think that wouldn't look so cool if everyone was Special Beam Cannoning left right and center.
With a bit of tech you can push it into a Scope and use it like a deadly longest range projectile weapon. Aristotle was onto something.
