Tale as old as Time chapter 5

After the dance, Sonic and Shadow sat on a bench in a balcony with a beautiful night with stars. They had a very wonderful time. Sonic really loved this place and being with Shadow. But then he looked down and sad.

"What's wrong, Sonic?" Shadow asked politely.

"It's just that I missed my uncle. If only I could see him again." replied Sonic

Shadow picked up a magic handmirror and gave it to Sonic.

"This mirror will show you anything you wish to see." said Shadow.

"I'd like to see my uncle, please." Sonic said to the mirror and it magically revealed Chuck in the woods and trying to search for Sonic while feeling weak.

"Oh no! Uncle Chuck! He's sick. He may be dying! And he's all alone!" Sonic was shocked and worried to see his uncle suffering.

Shadow was concern with Sonic. He knew it could ruin his chance to break the spell, but he had no choice but to let Sonic go to help his uncle.

"Then you must go to him. I'll release you. You're no longer my prisoner." said Shadow looking down.

"You mean I'm free?" asked Sonic with a surprised face

"Yes. Please, take this mirror with you'll always have a way to look back, and remember me." Shadow nodded.

"Thank you, Shadow for understanding how much he needs me!" Sonic hugged Shadow, rushing to the guestroom, getting dressed into his normal outfit, hop onto Lightning and ran off with the mirror. Shadow felt sad and depressed. The servants saw everything.

"Your highness, why did you let Sonic go?" asked Knuckles.

"Because, I love him!" Shadow replied sadly.

Everyone were shocked to hear that Shadow let Sonic go and amazed to hear that he finally loved someone.

"Is that true?" asked Rouge.

"Yes, I'm afraid it's true." Knuckles nodded.

"Sonic is going away?" asked Cream.

"But Shadow was so close." said Rouge.

"After all this time, he's finally learned to love." sighed Vanilla.

"In that case, that should break the spell." said Rouge excitedly.

"But, Rouge. It's not enough. Sonic has to learn Shadow in return." said Vanilla.

"I guess it's too late now." sighed Knuckles.

Meanwhile Sonic was in the forest and searched for his uncle until he found him unconscious in the snow. Sonic took him back the house to place him in bed. But little did Sonic know that he was watched by Dixon.

"They're back!" Dixon thought and ran to tell Tommy that Sonic and Chuck came home.

When Chuck was in bed, he woke up to see Sonic.

"Sonic?" said Chuck weakly as he opened his eyes.

"It's alright, Uncle Chuck! I'm home!" Sonic tearfully smiled as he hugged his uncle.

"I thought I've never see you again!" smiled Chuck with tears.

"I've missed you so much!" said Sonic.

"But the werehog? How did you escape?" asked Chuck.

"I didn't escape, Uncle Chuck! He let me go. And he's different now. He's changed somehow." replied Sonic.

Suddenly someone knocked the door. Sonic opened the door to see Doctor Finitevus.

"May I help you?" asked Sonic nervously.

"I've come to collect your uncle!" replied Finitevus.

"What? My uncle?" Sonic shocked.

"Don't worry, my dear boy! We'll take good care of him!" Finitevus grinned as he showed Sonic an asylum wagon and alot of villagers were outside the house including Tommy Thunder and Dixon.

"My uncle is not crazy!" Sonic yelled.

"He's raving like a lunatic! We all heard him, didn't we!" said Dixon.

All the villagers agreed with Dixon.

"Well, Sir Charles. How big was the werehog?" Dixon asked mockingly.

"Well, he's enormous, and about eight feet tall." Chuck replied nervously.

But no one believed him and laughed at him.

"But it's true!" cried Uncle Chuck.

"Take him away!" Dixon ordered.

Two of Tommy's friends grabbed Chuck and dragged him as he struggled.

"No! You can't do that!" Sonic shouted.

"Poor, Sonic. It's a shame about your loving uncle." said Tommy sarcastically as he put his hand on Sonic's shoulder.

"Tommy, you know he's crazy." said Sonic.

"Well, maybe I can clear up this little misunderstanding, if you marry me!" said Tommy smugly.

"What?!? You can't be serious!" cried Sonic with disbelief.

"Yes, Sonic. I'm serious. One little word is all it takes." smirked Tommy as he flirted Sonic.

"Never!" screamed Sonic as he pushed him away.

"Fine! Have it your way!" said Tommy as he slowly walked away.

Sonic turned around to see Chuck was about to be taken to the asylum, he rushed into the house, grabbed the mirror and got out of the house with it.

"My uncle is not crazy and I can prove it to you!" Sonic cried.

Everyone stopped and stared at Sonic.

"Show me Shadow!" Sonic said to the mirror which revealed Shadow and showed him to everyone. Everyone got scared when they realised the werehog was real.

"Is he dangerous?" asked an old woman.

"No, he'd never harm anyone. Listen! I know the werehog looks vicious, but he's really kind and gentle. He's my friend." replied Sonic.

When Tommy looked at how Sonic smiled at Shadow in the mirror, he realised Sonic had feelings for the werehog and got angry and jealous.

"If I didn't know better I'd think you had feelings for this monster!" Tommy glared.

"He's not a monster, Tommy Thunder! You are!" Sonic yelled angrily.

Tommy snatched the mirror from Sonic and began to convince the villagers that Sonic is as crazy as his uncle the Shadow was dangerous.

"The werehog will make off with your children! He'll come after them in the night!" Tommy convinced the villagers. Sonic told everyone not to trust Tommy, but they didn't listen.

"What are we gonna do?" asked a woman worriedly holding her child.

"We're not safe until his head is mounted on my wall! I'll say: We'll kill the werehog!" Tommy suggested.

All the villagers agreed with Tommy but Sonic refused.

"No! I won't let you do this!" Sonic cried.

"If you're not with us, you're against us!" Tommy said.

He ordered the Villagers to lock Sonic and Chuck up in their basement.

"Let us out! You won't get away with this, Tommy!" Sonic cried.

"We'll free our village from this werehog! So, who's with me?" said Tommy to the villagers.

"I am!" replied the villagers.

"We'll lay siege to the monster's castle and being back his head!" Tommy cried

They brought their pitchforks, torches and guns, riding on their horses and were off to the castle along with Tommy Thunder who used the mirror to find the castle.

"I have to warn Shadow! This is all my fault!" Sonic said looking down.

"Now, now, Sonic. We'll think of something." Chuck comforted Sonic.

But then, Sonic had an idea. He opened a basement window, squeezed himself out and opened the basement door. Sonic and Chuck were finally free. They ride on Lightning and head back to the castle before it's too late.

Meanwhile the mob were arriving to the castle. The servants saw the mob and they noticed Tommy had the mirror. They realised that the castle is under attack. And Vanilla was trying to warn Shadow about the mob while the rest of the servants try their best to block the door.

"Pardon me, your highness!" said Vanilla.

"Leave me alone!" said Shadow still depressed.

"But the castle is under attack! What shall we do now?" she said worriedly.

"It doesn't matter anymore. Just let them come." he said sadly.

"Take Whatever booty you can find! But remember, the werehog is mine!" Tommy said to the mob as they used a big log to burst the door open.

The servants tried hard but they weren't strong enough to hold the door. Rouge had an idea to set up a trap for the mob. After the mob finally opened the door. Once they're inside, they saw furnitures and objects in the entrance hall. Little did they know the objects were alive. They carefully locked around in the castle. Dixon grabbed Rouge while her candlestick were lit, used the signal.

"NOW!" Rouge shouted.

The objects came to life and attacked the mob. It was a real battle while Tommy still carried on to find Shadow and searched every room. The mob was no match for the objects. Melissa trapped a one of the mob named Scourge the green Hedgehog inside him and put him in cute and girly clothes with girly makeover and hairstyle, much to Scourge's horror and ran.

"Let's get out of here! This castle is cursed!" cried Scourge with fear.

The mob including Dixon ran out of the castle and got scared and screamed like girly girls and the servants celebrastes their victory but little did they know that Tommy was still inside the castle. Once he went to the West Wing there he found Shadow in the bedroom, still depressed. Tommy shot and arrow on Shadow's shoulder, pounced him into to the roof and beating him up but Shadow was too depressed to fight and felt he had nothing to live for. Once Sonic, Chuck and Lightning arrived and saw Tommy was about to kill Shadow.

"NO! TOMMY, DON'T DO THAT!" Sonic screamed.

Shadow heard Sonic's voice. He started to stand up against Tommy while Sonic rushed into the castle. It was a real battle on the castle roof. They fought and fought until Shadow grabbed Tommy and was about to drop him from the roof.

"Please, spare me! I'll do anything! Anything!" Tommy begged for mercy.

Shadow calmed down and spared him.

"Get out of here!" said Shadow depressed again until he saw Sonic in the castle balcony.

"Shadow!" said Sonic while reaching his arm for Shadow.

"Sonic! You came back!" Shadow smiled as climbed to the balcony and held each hand.

Suddenly Tommy stabbed Shadow in the back with a knife. Tommy slipped from the tower and fell in a big hole and met his death while Sonic gently lifted the injured werehog into the balcony while the servants saw everything gasped in horror to see Shadow fatally injured.

"Sonic... You.... You came back..." said Shadow weakly.

"Of course I'm back, Shadow! I couldn't let them. This is all my fault! If only I'd gotten here sooner." said Sonic tearfully.

"Maybe it's better this way.." said Shadow, getting weaker and dying.

"No, don't say that! We're together now! You'll be alright! Everything's going to be alright." said Sonic still in tears.

"At least I got to see you ...one... last... time..." said Shadow with his last breath while placed Sonic's cheek with his hand until he died.

"No! No! Please, don't leave me! I love you!" Sonic sobbed and mourned Shadow's death.

The last petal fell, and suddenly Shadow transformed into his hedgehog self and revived. Sonic was surprised and shocked. Shadow looked around himself to see he became a hedgehog again.

"Sonic! It's me!" Shadow said.

Sonic took a closer look at Shadow, when he looked at the ruby eyes and he realised the black Hedgehog and the werehog were the same person.

"It is you!" Sonic smiled happily as they kissed each other and then, the spell was broken, castle and everyone who live there returned back to their normal selves. The servants were happy that the spell was broken.

Later, after Sonic and Shadow married each other. They danced at the ball while everyone including Chuck and Mrs. Gray were watching happily at the couple. And they all lived happily ever after!
